Justin Brannan Slapped with Ethics Complaint for Mocking Colleague

Councilman Justin Brannan allegedly called Councilwoman Susan Zhuang “Susan Fang” and brought “mock teeth” to City Hall.(Source)

On social media, the teeth were shared:

The New York Post headline: *(See story here)

Why didn’t Brannan apologize? The Post wrote: “Brannan defended his behavior and shifted the focus back to Zhuang.

Look what politics does to people!

The bad blood between Brannan and Susan is because Brannan supported his friend from Queens in an election against Susan Zhuang won by A LOT!

Nothing is going to happen to Councilman Brannan – that’s why he brought teeth to work with him. He knows the Speaker isn’t going to do anything.

The head of the Brooklyn Democratic Party pointed out that Brannan’s nonsense is dangerous as AAPI hate grimes and violent attacks on women are skyrocketing:

Will Crime Go Up Near The Homeless Shelter on 86th Street and 25th Avenue?

The people living near the location for the proposed homeless shelter on 86th Street and 25th Avenue are worried that they won’t be safe in their community.

(Source)

In the video, they said that the newspaper reported that crime around a homeless shelter increased by 17%. This article states that there is more crime near shelters in NYC. (Source)

Why was this area chosen 150 men, instead of families to be housed? I think the neighborhood would be a lot more accepting of a homeless shelter for families.

See the Brooklyn Paper’s story about crime here.

Michael Grinblat – Missing Man From Brooklyn

On 7/29, Michael’s mother wrote:

Update: I’m seeing people writing condolences on social media. Michael’s friend shared that Michael’s body was found on June 25th. The family was not contacted by the police. They do not know how it happened. It’s so sad to hear this about such a young, vibrant man. I don’t have any further information. RIP Michael. Prayers for his family.

Michael Grinblat is a 35-year-old man who has been missing from his Brooklyn since June 27th. He’s a real estate salesman in Manhattan. Why is today the first day we are hearing about it?

Michael is 5’10” and 195 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes.

The Shomrim released this and it says he has a medical history – schizophrenia.

Michael lives in Brooklyn, but was last seen in Manhattan on Broadway and 90th Street going towards subway station on 6/25/24 at 2:00 am. He was on a WhatsApp video call with his mother. No one has seen or heard from Michael since then.

Michael’s phone was located on Nostrand Avenue and Linden Boulevard.

Prayers for Michael’s fast return.

NYPD Drone Over Palestinian Vigil – Leif Ericson

Last night, the Palestinian Youth Movement held a vigil at Leif Ericson Park on 5th Avenue and 67th Street in Bay Ridge. They brought flowers, candles and flags to remember all those that died in Gaza and Palestine.

The group shared that the NYPD had a drone over their vigil. Mayor Adams wanted the police to have a drone so they can keep and eye on things.

If the police had been present at the event, it may have angered the Palestinians who were mourning family and friends. But drones are like more surveillance on their community.
