People Living on the Side of The Belt Parkway

A resident saw that people were living on the side of the Belt Parkway at Exit 8. They called 311 to get help for the people because small children were running around the area.

311 said no one was living there and closed the call.

NYC tried to stop people from staying in that location. They put up the fence after they received complaints from residents in the Spring.

Senator Iwen Chu Has a Petition Against the Homeless Shelter BECAUSE It’s Election Season!

Senator Iwen Chu’s hasn’t said much about the homeless shelter. Last year, this topic was not important to her. (See here)

It’s election season now, so Iwen sent out a letter stating that she has a meeting with the Mayor.

Senator Chu’s letter for people to sign says that people “oppose the process.

Brooklyn residents oppose a 150 male shelter being added to their neighborhood. This isn’t a family shelter or a shelter for women, it’s for 150 men and people oppose it because they have seen what has happened in other neighborhoods. (See here, here, here and here)

Where was Senator Chu’s call for transparency in 2023 when talk about the shelter started?

Instead of calling the Mayor’s office and inviting him for lunch, Iwen went on a rant on social media saying how many days the Mayor’s office did not respond to her request:

The Mayor hates when someone tries to publicly embarrass him on social media because he is doing as much as he can in trying to manage crime, housing the migrants and the rest of NYC’s problems.

See the video:

I love when business owners add beauty to the neighborhood because it is important to them!

Joe owns Peppino’s Brick Oven Pizza and Peppino’s Liquor. Stop by 78th Street to see the mural and then grab a pizza (or the salad Nan told us about – see here) and a bottle for the weekend!

Mosquito Spraying in Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights & Bensonhurst on Wednesday Night – 8/28

On Wednesday, August 28th from 8:30 pm to the next morning, trucks will spray pesticides to kill mosquitos in Bay Ridge (above 3rd Avenue), part of Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst, Gravesend, SeaGate and part of Coney Island. (Info here)

The notices are up:

There have only been six known cases of West Nile Virus in NYC. Dr. Fauci was hospitalized for West Nile Virus. (Info)

A truck will spray low concentrations of Anvil 10+10, Duet or MERUS. NYC’s warning is here – see page 3. Our friend saw the truck several years ago:

In past years, the truck came to our neighborhood between 11:00 pm and 2:00 am. At the top of the block before they begin, they will make an announcement that they are spraying so people go indoors.

Remember to close your windows on Wednesday evening and NYC suggests that you close the vent on your air condition too.

Justin Brannan at the DNC in Chicago

Councilman Justin Brannan was on Channel 1 this afternoon. He was speaking from the Democrat National Convention in Chicago.

Yesterday, Brannan (or his staff) posted some strange edited photo on social media, which made people wonder if he was at the convention. (See photo) It’s was just bad editing.

Today, Brannan took a photo with the sanitation in Chicago. (See here)
