Justin Brannan Was Caught Playing Both Sides. Brannan Was Ousted By the Italian Caucus

The NY Post and Channel 1 News shared that Councilman Justin Brannan was ousted from the Italian Caucus of NYC Council. (News)

The members of the Italian Caucus agreed to support Columbus Day. While Brannan’s name still remains on their website (here), his name was not included in NYC Council’s celebration this week:

Brannan’s name was not on NYC Council’s celebration.

In 2023, Councilman Brannan signed a letter to preserve Columbus Day. (See here) Brannan agreed to be the grand marshal of the Brooklyn Columbus Day Parade  in 2023 – the parade was cancelled due to rain. (Source)

When Justin Brannan changed his feelings towards this issue, he should have sent a letter to the Italian Caucus and politely said he no longer holds the same beliefs.

When the news came out about the ousting, Brannan should have made a bold statement on social media, but Justin cried about Bob Holden’s age instead.

Brannan lashed out at Bob Holden for being old because he couldn’t call Holden a MAGA (he’s a Democrat). Bob Holden is 73 years old and a decent politician. Justin Brannan exaggerated with the term octogenarian to insult Holden (rather than calling him a septuagenarian)

Someone’s age should not be something to mock….especially not by a politician who got caught playing both sides.

Today was Brooklyn’s Columbus Day Parade and Justin Brannan was there. #PlayingPolitics

In 2021, Justin Brannan’s shared this on Columbus Day:

Megan’s Bench Was Repainted….Love Wins

A local artist repainted Megan’s bench that was vandalized on Saturday. A friend of the artist shared the photo because the artist wanted to remain anonymous.

It’s terrible that NYC Parks Department didn’t take immediate action and clear the hate.

But love always wins.

Thank you to the kind artist. The bench now has the message, “Love always wins.”

Credit Card Skimmer at La Bella Marketplace

Today, a kind neighbor gave our community a heads-up after she went to La Bella Marketplace at 7907 13th Avenue and found a credit card skimmer.

This Brooklynite shared the message to warn others that there was a credit card skimmer at the first register closest to the door at La Bella Marketplace at 3:45 pm. She ripped the skimmer off and an employee took it to the office upstairs.

This evening six police officers were at La Bellas. A Brooklyn resident shared that the police took possession of the skimmer.

This is what the skimmer looked like (it is not the actual one):

It’s an identical card reader that goes on top of the original one and takes your card info and pin when someone swipes their card. The card number and pin can then be used for purchases.

Many Brooklyn residents shared that they no longer swipe their cards. That means that they hold their card over the Contactless Symbol and it the card no longer gets swiped.

What if you used register 1 today at this store? Call your credit card, report what happened and get a new card.

La Bella Marketplace posted a message on Facebook tonight:

Hopefully, the owners of La Bella will be able to find the culprit on their security cameras. They are a good store – just use cash there for awhile.

Thank you to our kind neighbor for alerting everyone to be safe.

Deaths Caused By Food Deliveries….Why Didn’t Andrew Gounardes Take Action?

Tonight Dean on Community Board 10 said Senator Andrew Gounardes told him there was seventeen deaths from food deliveries. I have no idea if that is true.

If that statement is true, why didn’t Senator Andrew Gounardes take action for NYC?

Andrew Gounardes and Grubhub took other action in our community. It’s just not the type of action our community needed and Andrew won’t tell you about.

Andrew Gounardes and Grubhub were in a Political Pac called Verrazzano Victory Alliance. A pac is a political action committee.

See line 3 and 4 below for Andrew Gounardes (listed as Andrew for New York – his political account) and Grubhub:

Don’t believe me? See it here

See how this pac used the money (here)

This political pac put out flyers and made phone calls to Republicans to make Ari Kagan look bad because Andrew Gounardes wanted to help Justin Brannan.

Why did Uber participate in the pac with $5000? What did Uber have to gain? Lack of legislation? Low fees on Congestion Pricing?
