December 12, 2024Council Representative Zhuang and Senator-Elect Chan Stand Up for the SHSAT

City Council Representative, Susan Zhuang and Senator-elect, Steve Chan spoke out in favor if the SHSAT with Councilman Bob Holden.
The SHSAT is the Specialized High School Admissions Test. It is given to students interested in going competitive specialized high schools including Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Tech, Bronx Science and Staten Island Tech.
This year, they were deciding to move to a digital version of the test, but the decision on the contract with the testing company has been delayed twice. (Info)

December 12, 2024Senator Andrew Gounardes Doesn’t Know The Problems in His District So He Made a Form

Millennial politicians think posting a form is how to involve the community in politics. After six year, Andrew Gounardes should know the problems in his district. A form is tacky.
If you asked people in this community, who the state senator was they probably wouldn’t be able to name Andrew Gounardes. He is not present and he does not help with problems.
Gounardes fails to hold community meetings or even share important information with the community (like the homeless shelter). Even Marty Golden had an in-person community meeting each year.
Why doesn’t Gounardes staff tell him how that posting a formthis shows how disconnected he is from the community?
Why doesn’t anyone from the Bay Ridge Dems hold him accountable?
Why doesn’t Community Board 10 ask Andrew Gounardes why he isn’t helping people in his district? Year after year, the same problems exist because Gounardes is not taking action.

December 11, 2024The FBI Doesn’t Know Who is Behind the Drones in Bay Ridge
Large drones have been seen over Bay Ridge, in Staten Island and in NJ. The FBI does not know who is behind them. I’m surprised there isn’t more security in the area trying to figure this out.
The news warned that people should not shoot down the drones because that is not allowed.
People are sharing videos of the drones on the Citizen app as well. (See here) Even Coney Island is seeing drones.

December 11, 2024Ousted Senator Chu Goes on Television

Since Iwen Chu lost the senate election, she has repeated in several interviews that the homeless shelter is a city issue. No, it isn’t.
NYC informed Iwen Chu in writing about the homeless shelter in November 2023, so she could share that information with the community. (See letter) Iwen Chu didn’t share the information.
Chu was voted out by her community 55% to 44% (usually that doesn’t happen to incumbents).

When election season came around this year, that’s when Iwen wanted to talk about the homeless shelter. By then, it was too late – she lost touch with the community.
People remembered Iwen Chu pushed her friend from Queens for NYC Council, instead of supporting Susan Zhuang last year. (Info)
Iwen Chu ran a negative campaign against Steve Chan because she thought she could win by playing politics. Steve Chan’s tenants put out the truth. (Info) After a dirty campaign, you don’t go on television.
I don’t understand Iwen’s reason for going on television now. Why didn’t someone on her staff tell her to sit this one out?

December 11, 2024Justin Brannan’s Afternoon Email Rant

Justin Brannan wants to be the NYC Comptroller, so he sent out an email to his base that told them: “NYC will be at the frontlines against the fresh hell they cook up for us.”
Justin Brannan loves fear mongering. Brannan doesn’t have any friends, staffers or family members to tell him, “Hey Justin don’t send out the email with the words fresh hell because you sound like a moron.”
If he was a real candidate, Brannan would be discussing real issues, not fear mongering.
