May 8, 2025Vote Against Justin Brannan For Not Fighting For Coney Island

Yesterday, the NYC Planning Commission voted to approve demapping Coney Island streets for the Casino Project.
Coney Island residents submitted over 8,000 signatures against the casino on petitions. There were 175 comments made to the City Planning Commission – only 25 were in favor of the casino.
The next vote is the NYC Council vote and the council defers to the Council representative. Justin Brannan has not spoken out against the casino.
In March 2023, I told you why Justin Brannan would be the worst thing for Coney Island:
https://is.gd/MFOoW8
Democrat District Leaders like Chris McCreight still pushed for Brannan for Councilman even though saw Justin Brannan was lobbied. Brannan’s staffer, Kayla Santosuosso is trying to get his seat, but she never stood up for Coney Island this Winter when the people fought alone.
The Bay Ridge Democrats and Kayla Santosuosso know that Brannan didn’t help Coney Island, but still keep pushing for the man, who couldn’t stand up against lobbyists for a poor Brooklyn community.

May 7, 2025Scam Alert: A 71-Year-Old Woman in Bay Ridge Took Out $20,000 From the Bank and Gave It to This Man

The NYPD’s flyer says: “On Friday, April 25th around 11:00 am on 71st Street and Colonial Road, the man in the picture deceived a 71-year-old victim by using a customer service fraud protection scam on her computer! The man told the Bay Ridge senior to remove $20,000 from her bank account or the money would be taken out as penalty. She went to the bank and then the man came to her house and she gave him the money.“
THIS HAPPENED TWELVE DAYS AGO? WHY AREN’T WE GIVING EVERYONE IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD A HEADS UP?
A kind Ridgite shared the sign that is only posted in some areas of the neighborhood:

Why isn’t this man’s picture and the story behind it being shared by every elected leader? Justin Brannan and Andrew Gounardes should have posted it on social media by now.
Today, the 68th Precinct shared on social media a warning about not using a jammed machine or a stranger offering assistance. Never let someone handle your bank card.

Why don’t leaders in Bay Ridge give each other a heads up the way we do as neighbors? Please share the sign, Bay Ridge.

Call 1-800-577-8477 if you know anything about this man.

May 7, 2025Brooklynites Rally for a Guinea Pig

Someone dumped the guinea pig (pictured above) at the park at Bay 22nd Street. Guinea pigs can’t live in the park. The owner should have found a new home for the pet.

A kind Brooklynite saw the helpless pet and posted his picture and location. Christine S. went and got the guinea pig.

She was going to bring him to Sean Casey Animal Rescue, but Jennifer, M, another Brooklynite is adopting the guinea pig.

I don’t like guinea pigs, but this guy is cute. I’m glad their are kind people in Brooklyn, who will go out of their way to help a small animal.

May 7, 2025NYC is Giving Out Kitchen Compost Bins

Vicky Paladino, a NYC Councilwoman from Queens made a video announcing that NYC is giving away free countertop compost bins.
Palendino didn’t like the compost bins for composting, but if you want one call your council members office. Palendino said she had 150 of them, so every office must be getting the same amount shipped to them, as the mayor wanted to better educate the public about composting.
NYC showed this photo of the compost bin on a counter:

Lee has composted for years. He uses a ceramic compost bin with a good seal. It was $17.99 when I purchased it. Now they are selling them for $50.00. I have never emptied the compost bin. Lee empties the compost bin, so get yourself a Lee as well.
