Ovington Avenue – Is an Eight Story Building with 40 Apartments Coming to This Block?

Tonight Community Board 10 was supposed to vote on this property on Ovington Avenue. The owner wants to put an eight story apartment building with 40 units.

This is the same block where the high school is supposed to go.

Remember CB 10 voted against the high school because there are three other schools on this block. Councilman Justin Brannan overrode them. Then CB 10 didn’t even ask Brannan to speak about the high school – they said they were, but they never did.

Even if CB 10 denies the request, Brannan can still override. Remember that when you vote next month and in November too!

Janine Acquafredda is Against the Privatization of Public Streets. She’s Running for Brooklyn Borough President.

What your tax dollars is paying for.

It’s nice to see a politician speaking out against companies taking over our street. Janine Acquafredda is running for Brooklyn Borough President.

They want to put a bolder (or some decorative placeholder like the green one above on every street corner). It’s called “daylighting.” Some corners need to be made safer, but most in Bay Ridge do not because of the large crosswalks.

Bike Stolen – John J. Carty Park

Last night, a 8-year-old boy was pushed off his bike around 7:00 pm by two masked men. The men were in their early 20’s. How awful!

There was no mention of this on Councilman Justin Brannan or Senator Andrew Gounardes’ social media pages – it’s like they don’t live here with us.

Don B. Lee Street Renaming – 70th & 15th Ave.

Today, 70th Street and 15th Avenue was renamed in honor of Don Lee.

Don Lee was an activist, who fought for the Asian Community in Brooklyn and in Chinatown. See all the times he spoke out here:

https://abc7ny.com/post/memorial-pays-tribute-advocate-don-lee-fought-asian/14858945

Two hundred people attended to support Don’s wife and daughter and honor his memory as they pulled the cover off the new sign.

Journalist, CeFann Kim from ABC News attended and spoke about his friend, Don Lee.

I don’t know of any streets that were named after Asian leaders in the area, but no one has said this is the first one for the area either.
