Prettiest Bowl I Own

I bought this bowl for myself last Christmas because I loved it so much. It’s one of the few things that I paid full price (no coupons) for, but I had to have it. It’s actually 9 bowls stacked inside one another and great for entertaining. I got it from Zanisa and I love it!

The word ‘effin is not okay with me!

When did the ‘effin become alright for people to use and say? It’s not alright with me. This word implies so much more and I don’t want to hear anyone say or write it as I have. There are so many words to use and people are okay with using the word ‘effin – NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it’s not okay. In the urban dictionary it says the word means exactly what it used to mean…..no it is not okay to say.

The kid, Stewie in Family Guy says the word “effin” at 7:30 pm each evening on Channel 11. I don’t know about all of you, but I don’t want that in my house. I don’t care if the kid in Family Guy is saying it, it is not proper English and it is offensive language. So I wote to Channel 11 to complain. I don’t even want to hear the word on my televison at 11:30 at night so execs for Family Guy step up and make a real song. Can you imagine that they made a song with that word in it? I can’t.  When I heard my student say that something was “effin cool” I wasn’t cool with it. There is a proper way to speak and I don’t think it involves this word. /Rant over

Williams Sonoma not as great as it used to be?

I love, love, love Pottery Barn. So I thought I would love Williams Sonoma. Yet, I made a recent order for two items and I wasn’t too thrilled with them. One item was an oven rack for $8.99

And the other was for these shooting star ice pops for $6.99:

It’s not that these items weren’t delivered okay, it’s just that they were standard items. The rack came in plastic and it wasn’t even made by Williams Sonoma. The ice pops were made by Tovolo and can be bought here: http://www.kitchenclique.com/80-8001b.html for $9.90 – nothing special.

When I think Williams Sonoma or rather Pottery Barn, I think “SPECIAL” Don’t you?

Organic Birthday Presents

June is a great month because not only is the end of the school year, but it is also a month where many of my friends celebrate birthday.

 I purchased two tops for two friends for their birthday from Fair Indigo. The concept of their shop is the their items are organic and that the people who made the products are paid fairly for their items. As I said a few days ago, I just realized how important it became for me to buy organic products. Sewing Circle

 I am inspired by so many blogs online to sew. I would love to be able to sew beautiful aprons for my friends like  Olivia’s Aprons

This morning, Karen and got up, grabbed a coffee and drove to our sewing circle. The sewing circle is made up of 7 women who meet to chat and sew. Karen and I are the novices in the group so we are glad to have an experienced sewer like Joanna there to help us with the harder parts of the project. I am making a jacket with a hood for a friend’s daughter. The lining and the zipper are new to me.  It’s an exciting way to begin a weekend and each week we go, we get further into the project.

The only hard part……waking up early. :)

Another crane collapses in Manhattan

A crane snapped in half this morning on the Upper East Side killing 2 people. The crane was examined yesterday and there were no violations. There must be something about the make or model of these cranes. Maybe better inspection techniques are needed.  

The crane tore the terraces off the building next to it. The crane operator and another person died. I guess we are fortunate that just two people died and many others could have been hurt or killed. The crane operator, Don Leo was 30 years old and engaged to be married in two weeks. The other worker who died was 27 years old.

Three months ago, the same thing happened and it killed 7 people.

My neighbors used to do a lot of cooking and canning in their backyards. They did preserves and spaghetti sauce. I used to peek at them from my top window as many women and even a few husbands gather around a large table that had the fruits/produce and a hot plate. Best Baby Gift

When I had to get a gift for  my first friend who was having a baby shower, my Mom told me to buy my friend a sleeping bag. My Mom had five kids so I know that she must have known what was best to buy for a new mother. My friend loved the sleeping bags that I gave her and since then I have purchased sleeper bags for  all of my friends who have had babies. Each and every Mom has told me that the sleeper bag is the best gift for a new mom or a baby shower because they used it over and over.

Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford is now selling furniture. I wasn’t sure if the commercial was totally believable, but the furniture looks lovely. It’s at Raymoor and Flanigan and I may some at the new place.
