Snapshots in My Head

We headed out to the city early on Saturday morning for the St. Patty’s Day Parade. Usually I have my camera on me all the time. But today I left it home on purpose because I wanted to capture the snapshots in my mind. Sometimes I get so busy snapping that I miss those sweet moments. Hand holding, strolling, enjoying, bagpipes, firemen with flags, bare trees, cool breezes and a great lunch with those I love made up the snapshots in my mind.

Sorry it doesn’t make for a great blogpost, but it was one of those days I waited for a long time and didn’t want to miss a bit of it.

When People Have the Chance to do the Right Thing…..Why do they do the wrong thing?

Simple question which should have a simple answer, right?

Not really.

I constantly watch or hear about people doing the wrong thing. I don’t mean kids because kids do silly things sometimes.

I mean adults – people 25+

It’s not hard to do the right thing and it most often doesn’t involve any extra effort to do the right thing.

So why don’t people do the right thing?

Selfishness? Stupidity? Jealousy?  I’ve watched people who are related to me and people who I would consider friends do the wrong thing EVEN WHEN THEY KNOW it’s the wrong thing. I just don’t get it.

My brother is the biggest stalker in the world. He works for Horizon Blue Cross and continues to come to my blog to research me. It started out that he was searching for my brother and then my father. He continues to come back to my blog and has logged 18 hours while at work looking at my blog in March. Woahhh that’s a lot.

4/2/12 edit:  My brother was on my blog another hour today.

4/10/12 edit: This week, you can see he visited again looking for my Dad, but he quickly goes off that page. He’s obviously looking for something and has an awful lot of free time to spend searching – 27 minutes today.

Lovebirds & Ladders

These gorgeous lovebirds live in my tree. Every year, they make a nest and raise their baby birds in the tree. Interestingly, they do it on the side that faces the house so I can look out and see their cuteness!

Not so interestingly, they have now made a nest in the roof drain. We have a regular ladder, but we need a super long ladder to get on the roof. I told Lee about needing a ladder yesterday before I left for work. He laughed when I told him I would need a ladder so I thought he thought I was joking. At 10:05 am while I was at work, Lowes called and left a message. When I heard the message on my cell it made me so happy to see he ordered the ladder for us! He KNEW it would make me happy to hear that so he put my cell number when ordering.

The ladder I wanted to get is like the Little Giant, but better! I researched ladders and this one is amazing. I research everything before I buy it so I don’t have to buy two and waste money.  It folds in all different ways and has a lot of the safety features I love. When I showed Lee it, he said I didn’t need a ladder that did so many things, but he loved the safety features of it.

When the ladder is delivered, we will need to take down the nest in the drain and hopefully that lovebird will build a new nest in the tree. I’m  hoping there aren’t any eggs in the nest!

* And this post would not end without my usual sappy love for Lee because saying I love you with a super ladder is the way to go!

Planning Makes Me Happy

St. Patrick’s Day is on a weekend this year and I love how everyone is getting excited about making plans for a great evening of celebrating being Irish celebrating! I love planning because it gives me something to look forward to!

Bay Ridge’s St. Paddy’s Day Parade will be on Sunday, March 25th on 5th Avenue.

The grandstand will be at 75th Street (Bay Ridge Parkway) and 5th Avenue.

The parade will travel down to Sunset Park and end outside OLPH church.

Also in the planning stages is a trip during Easter vacation.  We had a couple of ideas in mind so we decided to do one trip during that week and the other during the summer.

Of course I don’t get a chance to finish this post because I am being called and must go, but I will be back to finish this another day.

Glitter Makes a Great Gift

A good friend of mine gave me a huge package of Martha Stewart Glitter this Christmas. When I got it, I thought to myself ‘What am I going to use all of this glitter for?’   EVERYTHING is the answer. If you know me IRL, you would have seen my V-Day project a lot glitter.

Glitter is in my veins now! It was a great present that just keeps on giving!

Oh and of course the disclaimer: Martha Stewart and the Queen of the Click don’t know each other (although I wish we did) and I was not paid for the review. The glitter was gift from a friend to me.

Let the rain wash it all away

Skylar Grey – ‘Let the rain wash away the pain of yesterday’

It rained a lot in Brooklyn yesterday and today. And I was waiting for the rain. Rain just washes everything away and can be very cathartic.

So I got some good news today – I won a grant at school. A new project is financed and my students can have some fun. :)

In other news…..My friend, George got a gorgeous new puppy at the rescue in Bay Ridge last weekend.

I was lucky enough to pick up what appears to be a great hound dog. Has never left my side, truly faithful. Greatest feeling on Earth; besides having your loved one bring a child into this world.

I’m taking care of business during the last days of vacation. Peace to all.

My To Do List

I have been using lists for over 10 years to get a lot of things done everyday. I update my lists everyday. Although I am pretty productive, I always find more to add to my to do list and it always gets longer.

And this week I am thinking I’d like to do away with a to do list because it simply comes down to the point that it doesn’t matter. So what if everything doesn’t get done.

So if I throw my ‘to do list’ away, will I be less productive?
