The Brooklyn Public Library’s mini garden on Ridge and 73rd Street looks fantastic.

Jimmy Johnson from NGB helped on this project and shared the photos. I loved that he helped them use some perennials, which come back every year!

Bay Ridge Showed Up Against the Citibike Expansion

Community Board 10’s office was packed with Ridgites, who wanted to express their thoughts about the Citibike Expansion in Bay Ridge. Go Bay Ridge!

Watch here:

If we had better councilman, he would have negotiated for this community. Justin Brannan has failed to stand up AGAIN. When politicians leave you to fight when they should have taken care of this, vote them out.

Bay Ridge residents were there with hope and saying everything that was wrong with Lyft’s huge expansion of Citibikes. Some of these people should consider running for office because they delivered good speeches (many supported having some new docks).

Those who called into the Zoom were well prepared because they wanted to help their neighbors. I was nodding along with you as you spoke.

Some Citibikes are needed in the community because people would like to ride around Brooklyn.

It was sad to hear that Citibike docks are being placed in front of people’s homes. Someone should have done a better job with the locations. While the community should be excited for the new addition, they aren’t because Lyft is overstepping on public space.

Doris on CB 10 noted that restaurants have to pay to place outdoor cafes outside their property. Why isn’t Lyft paying? Check back tomorrow and I will share more on this.

Many CB 10 members also spoke out for the community. I appreciate the CB 10 Member who loves bike riding and called this a land grab. CB member who contacted the DOT and asked questions. Richie Barsamian, I appreciate you voice for the community again.

One guy who sits on CB 10 didn’t share the lobbyist for this project. He’s a political person. Not saying the truth to the community isn’t helping anyone!

Justin Brannan, Who Talked About Defunding the Police, Asked His Opponent About Defunding?

Tonight NY 1 had a debate between Mark Levine and Justin Brannan for NYS Comptroller.

Before the debate, Courtney Gross, a reporter with NY 1 said that Justin Brannan did not defund the police.

I sent NY1 Brannan’s tweet where he answered “Ya I’m inwhen someone asked which politicians would defund the police by one billion.

I wrote about this in 2020:

https://www.queenoftheclick.com/2020/06/29/justin-brannan-wants-to-defund-the-police

Justin Brannan was part of the Progressive Caucus of NYC Council and they wanted to defund the police by five billion in 10 years. See their tweet:

At tonight’s debate, Brannan tried to point a finger at his opponent. His opponent is sharp and called Brannan right out. For an experienced politician, Brannan looked ridiculous.

Brannan wanted to stick his opponent with “defund the police.” At the end of the debate, the journalists were laughing over Brannan’s strange question and Courtney said Justin Brannan had voted to defund.

Medical Aid in Dying Act – NYS Senate 35 to 27

The New York State Senate passed the Medical Aid in Dying Act by a vote of 35–27. The bill now goes to Governor Kathy Hochul for final approval.

Instead of discussing his vote on social media, Andrew Gounardes chose to talk about Trump. Many made videos or graphics like this:

We need a leader who isn’t going to play on social media, but can communicate with the district about what’s going on. In prior years, Gounardes was against this bill.

Steve Chan:

In the NYS Assembly:

Michael Tannousis, Alec Brook-Krasny & Lester Chang voted against it.

Michael Tannousis explained his vote thoroughly. See video:
