RIP

Tonight was Halloween and one of NY’s finest committed suicide outside of the 66 Pct. Officer around 7PM tonight.  He was a detective and I am so sad to hear this man had such an alone ending to life.

Why Would Quaglione Recommend Sal Albanese?

Tonight on Twitter, Will Bredderman a local reporter posted the following:

Bredderman had to know I would respond. 

Bredderman must have thought it was strange for John Quaglione, a candidate for City Council to recommend Sal Albanese for Chancellor or he wouldn’t have asked that question on Twitter.  One of the problems with NYC’s education system is that politicians insist they know about education and recommend people they know, rather than getting researching and getting to know the best candidate. We saw this with Bloomberg’s appointment of Cathie Black. I have known Mr. Albanese since I was eight years old.  I think he is a nice man, yet Mr. Albanese has not been in education for more than 15 years. Many things in NYC schools have changed (for good) over the years. The next Chancellor for NYC needs to be an education expert who is ready to put in motion what works and take out what is unnecessary.  

Why would Quaglione mention Albanese? Albanese is a well-known democrat in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and Quaglione needs more votes.  I guess Quaglione didn’t feel any momentum from Lhota’s downward spiraling election or from Charles Hynes running, so he needed a new Democratic ally.  (Incidently, Quaglione is running against our Councilman Vincent Gentile). In the past, I have dealt with Quaglione and I found him to be a poor communicator and he lacked accountability to his boss. (See here)

RIP Michael Lansberry

Former marine and National Guard Member, Michael Landsberry a Math teacher at Sparks Middle School in Nevada probably never thought his school would be a war zone. In an attempt to protect students, Landsberry lost his life.

Body found 92nd Street Shore Road – Bay Ridge 10/21

This morning a body was found floating in the water adjacent to the bike path on Shore Road. Around 10:30 am police were in the area investigating. Helicopters loomed over the area as well

It was believed to be the man who jumped from the Verrazano Bridge on Friday.

Weekend Update

Over the weekend, family worked with Lee and I on a great  and it turned out soooooooooooooooo good. Log in to see the pics !!!  Family – we are glad you are always up to the challenge of our “little jobs which turn big.”

If you know me IRL, you know that we have some really good news coming – but I am not ready to say yet. We will share when we have more definite news :)

NYPD Union Endorses Vincent Gentile Bay Ridge, Brooklyn

On Wednesday, the NYPD Union endorsed Councilman Vincent Gentile in Bay Ridge? WHY? They could have chose to endorse John Quaglione, but they didn’t!

WHY? 

The NYPD has a history with Vincent Gentile. They know Gentile is working for Bay Ridge and that he backs the NYPD and they have his back as well.

I Love Coming Home to……………

Sanded garage doors is the best feeling in the world. 

Our garage doors had seen better days, but are back on the road to recovery,  We stripped them of all the old layers of varnish and today I came home and saw Lee sanded them. 

I love that he does stuff because he wants. It’s the best feeling in the world  :)   

I also came home to other good news. I am BRCA 1 and 2 negative. Although this only accounts for a small amount of breast cancer, I also found out a lot of other great things through genetic testing – I highly recommend it. :)

Quaglione Finger Points In Dyker Heights

John Quaglione of Bay Ridge points the finger at parents this week.  Quaglione certainly can’t blame Vinnie Gentile for the kids throwing eggs. So Dyker Heights parents who aren’t watching your adolescent children every moment of the day, you are on John Quaglione’s radar.   Kids throw eggs because they are kids and sometimes do stupid things – just like we all did.

Quaglione is a politician who is constantly finger pointing. Quaglione didn’t even know what referendum we were voting on this November so he should spend more time learning about what’s happening, rather than finger pointing.

Throwing eggs is definately not a “quality of life” issue.  

This week’s tweets is brought to you by the letter ‘F’  for Finger Pointing and of course Fracking. Quaglione supports fracking. Anyone who knows anything about fracking knows what environmental problems this will create.

Corner Cabinet or Corner Bookcase

Pottery Barn is having it’s annual Friends and Family starting October 10th. I want to get something, but we need a corner bookcase or cabinet and PB doesn’t have one.

Soft Surrounding Maldive Corner Cabinet – $498 – I love the blue color, but I think I would find the chipped paint annoying at some point.

I don’t know about the dark wood or the open cabinets of this one, but it interests me.

Ultimately, Lee is going to have to build one like this – don’t tell him though :)
