The Knowledge House is seeking high school sophmores, juniors or seniors interested in learning coding and design skills, starting July 2025. The application deadline is May 16!
This is a FREE 12-month program that begins with a paid virtual Summer tech training, followed by year-round college and career coaching, monthly workshops, and support securing STEM internships, work-based learning opportunities, and college admissions.
The fellowship prepares students for successful post-high school study or careers in the tech sector.

May 10, 2025Free Palestine March in Bay Ridge Today
This afternoon there is a Free Palestine march on 5th Avenue and now on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge.
I didn’t see any of their flyers this year:
Nakba is on May 15th, but they held the protest on Saturday.
Outside Citibank, the protesters chanted against the bank! They also chanted that the police were the KKK. The police officers did not let the chants bother them – very professional.
There were seven police vans in front of The Bay Ridge Jewish Center on 81st Street and 4th Avenue. There were also police cars lining 4 Avenue. The 68th Precinct called in officers on bikes and made sure to keep the protest under control.
Some protests throughout the city end in protesters getting out of hand. The people are very angry because it is 77 years later – we would be too if this was happening to our family members. The police in Bay Ridge are very calm, organized and professional.

Coney Island will have fireworks on Coney Island Beach every Friday night during the Summer starting Friday, June 20, 2025 at 9:45 pm.
YES, CONEY ISLAND WILL HAVE FIREWORKS ON JULY 4TH, 2025 -EVERYWHERE SAYS IT IS AT 9:30 PM.
**When the Cyclones win, there is always fireworks too!
Where should you stand to see the fireworks? On the beach, on the boardwalk or anywhere in the area!
The last fireworks of the season is usually the first Friday of September 7th.

Viking Fest is happening today at Owl’s Head Park on 68th Street and Colonial Road from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. I
Everyone loves the Viking Ship in the park:
This free event is sponsored by the Scandinavian East Coast Museum and features crafts, a scavenger hunt, demonstrations, gladiators, music and people sharing culture.
Itty Bitty Kitty will also be there selling items to help the cat rescue in Bay Ridge.

Kiki, the owner of Blue Door Seafood Taverna at 8413 – 3rd Avenue shared that the Greek restaurant will be closing at the end of the month. She opened Blue Door Souvlakia eight years ago with her father.

GEM Pawnbrokers opened at 8413 5th Avenue. They are open 10:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday through Sunday.
The 5th Avenue BID shared that they sell jewelry and electronics. They also buy items and give loans.
This location used to be where Modell jewelry store was located.

May 9, 2025Man Shot in Coney Island This Afternoon
Around 3:30 pm this afternoon, a 40-year-old man was shot in the leg near a deli on Neptune Avenue and West 36th Street in Coney Island. Story:

No one has been arrested, but two women were seen running from the scene.
The man was taken to Coney Island Hospital and is in stable condition.
