July 11, 2017Dan Donovan’s Online Facebook Live Was Awful
Congressman Dan Donovan invited people to come to his meeting Facebook Meeting.
There were only 24 other people online! The room went up to 41 people at one point, but mostly remained at 32. Donovan represents thousands of people. Didn’t his team wonder what was wrong?
For a long time, Paula Katinas of the Brooklyn Eagle spoke to Donovan. It’s obviously Donovan knew the topics and spoke in general about them. The only thing I heard Donovan say that I didn’t know was that he is in Washington for three weeks every month and in New York for one month.
A few questions were from the audience and Donovan answered them generically. His answers offered no expertise and was general information that everyone knows. Any man could have been sitting in Donovan’s seat answering questions about climate change and North Korea. Donovan appeared awkward and uneasy, especially for a Congressman who speaks in front of people all of the time.
When the 30 minutes were over, the session ended abruptly even though Donovan hadn’t answered most of the questions asked during the session
Congressman Dan Donovan refuses to hold a town hall in Brooklyn. His constituents have asked and he keeps asking for one-on-one meetings.

July 11, 2017Linda Sarsour’s Speech Includes ‘Jihad’
When I first read that Linda Sarsour said the word ‘jihad,’ I immediately thought, “Oh someone is messing around with Linda’s speech” or they must have edited two videos together where she made the sound “Gee” and another video where she said “Had” so they could put it together and make some drama on social media because they were bored.
To my surprise, Linda Sarsour did say the word ‘jihad.’ She was speaking in Chicago at the annual Islamic Society of North America convention. The speech is here and the video is here. Sarsour explains what she meant by jihad here. The 20 minute speech is more defensive than inspiring. Was the word ‘jihad’ necessary? Not really because Sarsour says the word stuggle right after it (maybe for those in the audience who don’t understand the language). If you have read up to this part obviously this story interests you, click on the video, scroll to the end and see the audience – they don’t look inspired, a few who are sitting with Sarsour are standing, but a lot aren’t even clapping.
Sadly, Sarsour’s children are scared.

July 10, 2017John Quaglione Never Cared About Parking in Bay Ridge Before
Kings County Politics reported that John Quaglione met with June Johnson of CB10 to discuss how Citibikes would affect parking in Bay Ridge.
For most people, this is not news! To John Quaglione, this is news because he is used to writing press releases for light topics and fooling us into thinking Golden is being productive. The trouble is that there are no press releases about important things like this
Neither Marty Golden, nor his staffer, John Quaglione have ever taken on the issue of parking in this neighborhood. WHY? Because they both have parking outside their homes.
When Cars2Go started to park their cars on our streets in 2015, Marty Golden didn’t do anything. John Quaglione was silent as the Cars2Go company used our streets to park for free instead of getting a garage like Zipcar and other car rental companies. Now Quaglione wants to make an issue about a few bike stands – Gimme a break!
Citibike puts the bikes wherever the council person says to put them. Many streets have put them on the sidewalk.

Nicole Malliotakis is very quick to point the finger. This week, Malliotakis cried about DeBlasio taking a trip to Germany.

Mqalliotakis’ Twitter feed went quiet while she was away and when she returned she didn’t say much about the trip. In fact, the Staten Island Advance didn’t even do a story about it (they do a story on everything).
In Brooklyn, one local paper had the story where Nicole Malliotakis claimed that the trip would help American businesses find a partner in China. REALLY? Why couldn’t she just say she wanted a free trip? While she was overseas, who was handling her territory?
In 2015, when Cuomo went to Cuba, Malliotakis complained on Twitter and said Cuomo’s trip to Cuba was a mistake. Yet, months before Malliotakis said American businesses should partner with China.
