While Scrolling Facebook….

While scrolling FB tonight,  Marty Golden and a few friends were live streaming at Bay Ridge Manor. Some people watch football games, looks like these guys like to watch the Mayor on the big screen.

The Bay Ridge Manor only had a few tables set up – like 40 people.

When I reloaded the page, the video was gone.

Sal Albanese & Bill DeBlasio Debate on NY 1

News 1 held a debate between Sal Albanese and Mayor Bill Deblasio.  You can watch it: here.  Albanese was well-prepared and stayed focused.

DeBlasio complimented Sal for standing up for LGBT people back in 1986.  DeBlasio said there are communities who fear Trump (LGBT, Muslims, etc).

DeBlasio asked Sal what he thought we should do to protect the people who are impacted by Trump’s policies.

Albanese researched successful plans on housing and had some great ideas. I was actually impressed. Bill DeBlasio homeless plan is not going to get many people off the streets in the next four years.

Albanese said that he wanted to use non-for-profit companies to build housing which sounds like a good idea.

Bill DeBlasio kept going on about the rent free and providing free lawyers to people for housing issues. Sadly, Deblasio hasn’t done much to help the middle class – that’s the real tale of two cities in NYC.

Mayor Deblasio was asked what he would do about transparency in the future? DeBlasio said that he has put online all of the lobbyist who have met with him. Deblasio said he has been open about disclosure. DeBlasio was in the news today for using personal e-mail for some e-mail (see: here).

Sal Albanese Democrat for Mayor

Albanese called out DeBlasio for being the least transparent mayor in history. DeBlasio said, “Ed Koch.”   Albanese said FOIL requests under DeBlasio are delayed. Albanese talked about other mayors having pressers regularly. Albanese told DeBlasio that he evades public exposure.

DeBlasio said he disclosed many things and that is why people are able to discuss them now.

 Sal Albanese Mayor

Sal Albanese said that DeBlasio’s Riker’s Plan is a vintage DeBlasio. Albanese said they have to look at all of the facilities and see which ones are able to hold prisoners.

Sal minimized the job of the Mayor which annoyed DeBlasio. He mentioned how many days DeBlasio had been out of the state and feels he would make a better mayor.

I didn’t see a winner in this debate. I wish the debate would make DeBlasio work harder in some areas, but I don’t see that happening either.

Nicole Malliotakis Thinks Columbus Founded America

As Nicole Malliotakis defended a statue of Columbus, she incorrectly referred to Columbus as the founder of America.

Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis

Everyone makes mistakes and people would understand, but Malliotakis tried to label the reporter’s tweet about her as #FakeNews.

Is Nicole Malliotakis Against Pay-to-Play Politics Now?

Nicole Malliotakis
Today Nicole Malliotakis talked about reforming Pay-to-Play Politics. REALLY? She must think everyone forgot that she voted in favor of pay-to-politics.

Nicole Malliotakis voted for in favor of Pay-to-Play politics when she voted for Marty Golden’s bill to give tax breaks to developers in 2013.

This bill, A06658 had nothing to do with her area of Staten Island or Brooklyn. Afterwards,  Malliotakis was silent about her vote. Even though she is active on social media, Malliotakis never mentioned this bill.

Jerry Kassar Trashes Lucretia Potter in the the Paper

The Brooklyn Reporter has a on-going column by Jerry Kassar. This week, Kassar trashed Lucretia Potter. Yet, Jerry Kassar didn’t post a disclaimer that his co-worker,  John Quaglione is Lucretia Potter’s opponent. Both men work together at Marty Golden’s office.  That is not fair and ethically, it’s not right to do to Lucretia.

Home Reporter Jerry Kassar

But a disclaimer belongs before this section about Lucretia Potter:

The bottom of the article also didn’t contain a disclaimer.

Potter posted a reply to Kassar on her site, but of course that isn’t going to be picked up by the Home Reporter.

Lucretia Potter was the winner of the Republican Debate this past week. She was well-informed and well-spoken. She also expressed that she doesn’t receive backing from the Republican Party.

This is not the first time I pointed out that Kassar’s column needed a disclaimer. I don’t know why the Brooklyn Reporter editor doesn’t check for this when articles are submitted.
