Parents Don’t Want the EV Charging Station Near a School in Bay Ridge – Protest June 2, 2025

Parents are angry that an EV charging station is allowed near an elementary school in Bay Ridge.

They are having a protest on June 2nd at 3:30 pm outside of 9201 – 5th Avenue. Please join them if you are against having an EV station at this location.

How was this business approved next to a school? Politicians who don’t have children thought this was a good idea (see Justin Brannan’s social media post).

An EvGo charging station has been planned for 92nd Street and 5th Avenue, across the street from PS 104. Info:

There was a story in the NY Post today. Parents were not told that an EV station was being setup across the street from the school. See story:

A Week After CB 10’s Meeting, Justin Brannan Responded To 50 New Citibike Docs in BR

If Justin Brannan was a leader in this community still, he would have shared the information about Citibike with the community before the CB 10 meeting.

Brannan probably thought that CB 10 would have a quiet meeting and no one would say anything. People realized that 16 Citibikes at a dock will take two street spaces from their block.

But this must have rattled some people in Brannan’s base. They just realized he hasn’t been representing them and they must have sounded off about not voting for him!

The DOT is taking comments on the Citibikes expansion into Bay Ridge. Write to: [email protected].

CB 10 is having another meeting about the bikes on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. *Most of the people on CB 10 do not care about this issue (if they did, they would have shared it with us neighbors!) The meeting is at 7:00 pm at the District Office. If you can’t attend, you can register to speak on their Zoom here:

A Robotic Drone To Rescue NY’ers Drowning

NYC actually has a good idea – drones to help people who are drowning in the ocean. Seven people drowned last year, so these drones with rafts may help! See story here:

Traffic in Bay Ridge Caused By the New School, Congestion Pricing and Bridge Work

The traffic was backed up from the bridge to around 70th Street in Bay Ridge yesterday around 2:45 pm – 3:30 pm down to Dyker Heights in the mid-80’s.

If you are coming from Dyker Heights around this time, avoid 86th Street. The new school on 86th Street and 7th Avenue has a crossing guard that stops traffic when the light is green because the children need to be safe. This prevents cars from making a right tune on 86th Street. The left lane turn only prevents anyone to pass.

Congestion Pricing has forced more cars onto Brooklyn streets because people the only way to get from Brooklyn to New Jersey without going through Manhattan is by taking the route through Staten Island, which puts more traffic on the Verrazzano Bridge.

This week, they were working on the fence on the Upper and Lower Verrazzano Bridge. Any traffic problem on the bridge causes a traffic problem in Bay Ridge.

Update: Baby falcons were born on the top of the bridge and they went up there to see them and News 12 filmed it, so this may have slowed things down yesterday. See story:

Why aren’t the police doing anything about the traffic? There were no police cars around. And there are no police officers in unmarked cars because the police wouldn’t sit in traffic.

Message About the Dirty Park Gets No Response From Politicians – What Else is New?

We need to elect someone, who will assign a person on their staff to ride around the district and make sure the Parks Dept is taking care of things. There has to be someone who likes to ride by car or bike (who cares!) and look at the parks each week.

Yes, there are some people who mess it up, but most people don’t.
