Senator Golden on Education – Not Good!

Senator Marty Golden has been writing bills for developers and bills for the cigarette industry. While Marty was doing that, education has fell to the side Golden used to brag about seats he brought to the community. Now Mayor de Blasio brings the seats to the community.

The Alliance for Quality Education (AQE_NY) gave out the flyer above at the train station today. This organization fights for adequate funding and educational justice.

This is what is owed to NYC Schools and Golden has not fought to get the schools the money they are owed. Check out how much money Fort Hamilton High School did not receive.

Bay Ridge – Fifth Avenue’s Closed Shops

This isn’t going to be pretty. All these storefronts are empty because the price of rents in the area is too high and small business owners aren’t being given any relief. (This is the first of 3 posts about this).

Friends of the NRA Raffling Off Guns at Garguilo’s

Today, Andrew Gounardes shared that The Friends of the NRA are having a fundraiser on April 12th with raffles for guns. The fundraiser is at Gargiulo’s  Restaurant in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

Gargiulos is a family restaurant so I was surprised to see this.  I went to the site and saw:

Their flyer explains all the guns you can win – it’s like a penny auction for the Friends of the NRA.

Is it legal to raffle off guns?   Unbelievably it is – But it shouldn’t be!  Getting a gun shouldn’t be like getting a party basket filled with wine and crackers.

Hopefully, Garguilo’s will say or do something that is right for Brooklyn. Because it isn’t okay to raffle off weapons.  Sign the petition.   Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams:

I know that Andrew Gounardes, Moms Demand Action and Fight Back Bay Ridge aren’t going to let this go. I’m sure other groups are going to be upset this is going on in here as well. Why? Because Brooklyn is our home and our families are here.

Bay Ridge Store Robbed 9801-3rd Avenue 2/23/18

Last night, the corner grocery/deli at 9801 3rd Avenue was robbed. The news called it a bodega, but that’s what they call all the small stores in NYC, even though no one here calls it a bodega.  This store is on the corner of Marine Ave and 3rd Avenue.

The news released that the suspect was a 6 ft tall black man, but the people in the area who saw him said he was white. In the last robbery, the last suspect was also identified as being black at first by a reporter, but then the video showered he was white. Councilman Brannan shared that this is the same man who did other robberies in the area. The news said the incidents aren’t connected. Councilman Brannan stated that he was told they were.

Even the suspect’s clothes sound the same, like he hasn’t changed his clothes (black puff jacket and the same grey sweatpants).

The suspect got away in a Cadillac SUV. He used a silver gun.

Adam West shared this description today (2/25): Male white, 30s, Approximately 6ft tall, Approximately 180 lbs, Wearing a black hat, a black North-face jacket with hood up over his head and gray baggy sweat pants.  He took approximately $175.

This is the 3rd robbery in Bay Ridge in a week  (but 4 all together).  Robbery three days ago in Bay Ridge
