When the Knights of Columbus Turns Their Back on Brooklyn…
The Archbishop John Hughes Council of the Knights of Columbus turned their backs on Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights by allowing the Friends of the NRA to have their gun function at the K of C. This Knights of Columbus is located at 1305 86th Street in Brooklyn and many people have baby christenings there.
The Friends of the NRA kept the function low key and didn’t out it on their website. But they were determined to have their evening in our neighborhood.
Look at this angry NRA supporter going into the Knight of Columbus. Guns aren’t making him happy obviously. Here’s another NRA supporter attending the function.
Remember when our neighbors in Dyker Heights had their gun available to their 9 year old son. The boy took the gun and shot at his sister. We’re lucky the kid had bad aim.

Have you seen the May 16th announcement for the Republican Spring Gala highlighting Sebastian Gorka? It’s three days after the announcement and…
If the Republican Group in Bay Ridge were a better group of people, they would have removed all signs of this invitation by now and someone would have issued an apology to this community.
These are the same people who wonder what happened to the neighborhood. What happened was some parents failed to teach their family to be decent to their neighbor and now those kids are adults and Bay Ridge has to deal with him/her. This isn’t hard -> treat other people as you want to be treated.
Some of the organizers of this event live in Staten Island, so they don’t care what happens in Bay Ridge.
We care in Bay Ridge because this community has a lot of children. Can you imagine how Muslim teens who hear about this event feel? If they think they are only hurting Muslims, they are wrong. They are hurting their own children, who are learning to hate others based on what religion they follow. It’s not so funny when one kid says to another, “Go back to your country” because they are repeating what they heard you (and those like you) say.
I grew up in Brooklyn and I was fortunate to have a community of adults who oversaw our neighborhood and made sure things were right, so we could be kids.
For those of you who sat in church with us on Sunday……Matthew 25:40.
Finally, both Senator Marty Golden and Congressman Dan Donovan are aware of this and neither had the decency to speak out against it. Neither man has the leadership needed for this neighborhood.
When someone asks or remarks how Brooklyn is different now…..you and I will know it’s because…Not Even One Could Speak up for their neighbor.
