Marty Golden Needs to Think This Through

Ed Mullins, the head of the Sergeants Benevolent Association wants to reward people who assist a police officer who is struggling with an arrest. See here, here and here.  Some papers are reporting that this program started Wednesday, August 22, 2018.  Strangely, the Sergeants Benevolent Association has already has put up a website about the $500 reward.

Mullins wants Marty Golden to write the legislation that would extend the Good Samaritan law to protect citizens who assist first responders.  Golden told the paper that he will correct the bill’s shortcoming with legislation.  (See here)

This is such a bad idea for many reasons, but mainly because police officers are going to get hurt. Idiots will get in the way of police business and say they were trying to assist the officer.  Some thugs don’t like police officers and will use this as an excuse to hurt them. The NYPD does not support this plan and wants people to call 911 for help.

This is a very dangerous bill and Marty Golden should reconsider submitting this.

What Jerry Kassar Didn’t Tell Us Is Important….

Jerry Kassar, head of the Brooklyn Conservatives and Chief of Staff at Marty Golden’s office has a column in the Brooklyn Reporter. It was recently shared by the Brooklyn Conservatives on Twitter.

This week Kassar wrote about the Fight Back Bay Ridge. What Jerry didn’t include in the article is very interesting as well.

• Something must have changed at Senator Golden’s office this year, as Kassar was never concerned with people who didn’t support Marty. As the head of the Conservatives, Kassar would confidently talk about candidates he endorsed. Even when he knew they were going to lose, he would psych people out with some fake statistic and optimistic win like this:

• Fight Back Bay Ridge’s bags contained some interesting papers discussing what Marty has been doing as our senator. They were so informative!  one and two
  

• At the Summer Stroll, I realized a lot of residents who are volunteers or run things in Bay Ridge are also in Fight Back Bay Ridge. Jerry’s been talking to Fight Back Bay Ridge online since at last November. Why didn’t he go over and say hello to them?
  

• Jerry seemed upset by the name of the group….don’t worry Jerry it’s not a scary antifa group, it’s just your neighbors talking about Marty car being caught by the the speed cameras in school safety zones

• Jerry referred to the group as It……The pronoun ‘They’ might work better. Let’s see if I can show that in an example here:  The Conservatives held a party and collected money. It gave money to Mike Long. ‘They’ would work much better than the word ‘it’ to describe a group. How did the paper’s editor miss that?
  

• Bohemian Rose took a great picture with FBBR during the Summer Stroll (see here).  People get dramatic on on Facebook and say such silly things. Example: Summer Stroll was a “battlefield.”
  

• At the Summer Stroll,  if y’all don’t want politics, don’t bring politics. It’s that simple. Maybe politicians shouldn’t have staff working during Summer Stroll.
  

• Kassar left out all the details of the ‘Cease and Desist letter’ that Golden was served.  Why?  Jerry could have given the juicy details of who read the letter first and who was most outraged. It would have made for a more interesting article and less Doom and Gloom.
  

• When I see FBBR, I will tell them not to hand out the scary fans
  

• Jerry tells new residents that they chose Bay Ridge for a reason. New residents and potential home buyers have no idea how Marty is participating in pay-to-play politics. As a Conservative does Kassar think, “oh no not again Marty” when it happens or does he like it?  Kassar didn’t share about Marty’s pay-to-play bills from this year (but more info here)   

• Finally, Kassar should schedule Fight Back Bay Ridge for a meeting with Marty Golden. One member of Fight Back Bay Ridge has been trying to get a meeting with Senator Golden for months because Bay Ridge schools are owed money from the state and Senator Golden hasn’t brought that back.  Golden’s staffer cancelled the meeting, but forgot to reschedule it. As Chief of Staff, Kassar should get everyone together for a cup of coffee. 

• It’s Summer, take it easy and enjoy the art.

Democrats Debate for the Bay Ridge Senate Seat

On Tuesday, August 28th, The United Chinese Association of Brooklyn will host a Candidate’s Forum for the Democrats running for the Bay Ridge Senate seat, currently held by Marty Golden. 

Ross Barkan and Andrew Gounardes will present their views, so Democrats will be able to distinguish between the two and vote for their choice in the September 13th primary election.

Place: The United Chinese Association of Brooklyn – 1787 Stillwell Avenue in Brooklyn

Time – 7:00 pm  All welcome

Gounardes and Barkan have been cordial to each other, as both know the ultimate goal is to unseat Golden for this community, but things may get more complicated after this.

Did Charlie Ragusa Finally Say Something Good?

Charles Ragusa wants to throw Bill Colton out of office. Actually, Democratic District Leader Ragusa wants to term-limit ALL state representatives. 

While this sounds good, Ragusa has no authority in that area. Charlie Ragusa is in the same Democratic Club as Diane Savino, so he can recommend that to her……of course that won’t go over well because Ragusa doesn’t have authority over Savino either. Ultimately, the governor could decide to go for term-limits, but Cuomo won’t because he looks to state representatives for support.

Sorry Charlie, district leaders aren’t that powerful, but I am sure Charlie could recommend term-limit for District Leaders.  Yes – that’s a great idea!

But Ragusa won’t do it because then he would be out a job.

Ragusa is best known for taking money from Diane Savino and giving it to Ethan Lustig-Elgrably or for being a spiteful Democrat and not backing Brannan in the 2017 election because Ragusa wanted to go tit-for-tat.
