Nicole Malliotakis Costs the District Money

I had no idea that this happened and of course Nicole Malliotakis doesn’t tell us this:

Two million is a lot of money!  I actually don’t see Nicole Malliotakis bringing money to Bay Ridge projects.

Steve Saperstein – Not Right for Bay Ridge

Last November, Steve Saperstein ran for City Council against Chaim Deutsch.

Chaim Deutsch beat Steve. After the election we saw a lot of negativity on Twitter.

In January, Steve was supporting Marty Golden’s election, so he went after Ross Barkan on Twitter. I noticed because that’s when the first wave of fake Twitter accounts appeared.

Ironically, the troll accounts were made and they told Ross Barkan that he was “barking up the wrong tree.”  Steve Saperstein said the same thing to Ross.  I thought it was strange that a man who ran for City Council would speak that way.

Debate at Xaverian

On the night of the debate, I was going to write about Andrew Gounardes standing up to Marty Golden and his nonsense, but the news of Steve Saperstein accepting developer’s money hit me like a brick.   I shouldn’t be shocked, but I was.

I was shocked that my neighbor Ted Ghorra, the head of the Republican Party thinks it is okay for a politician to accept money from developers. I’m shocked that my neighbor Ted Ghorra has seen what has gone on in Coney Island and would endorse someone who is involved with developers. I believed that Ted Ghorra was somehow different or better than Marty or Jerry Kassar and he wouldn’t do that to his neighbors.

Steve Saperstein sat on the stage  at Xaverian High School and he didn’t want to answer the question about if he accepted money from developers. The moderator made him answer!

I was shocked that Ted Ghorra or Jerry Kassar would think Steve would be a viable candidate for our area.

I have been talking about developers for years and their ties to both Democrats and Republicans.

It’s clear that Marty Golden doesn’t want Steve Saperstein to win. Golden has plenty of campaign money and could have given some to Saperstein. Politicians use their political account like that all the time. Golden didn’t anti up the money, but this invitation makes it look like he wants people to (update: there were just a few people at that fundraiser).

Golden’s name was on the invitation for Saperstein’s fundraiser. The fundraiser was poorly attended and Marty Golden posted the pictures online so people could see it was poorly attended. Why would he do that? Many of the people at the fundraiser work on the campaign. Where are all the Republicans and their big wallets? : )

Rally at the Manor

Last night, when the Republicans got together, Steve Saperstein quoted Michelle Obama – see video. We love Michelle Obama,  but we didn’t realize that Ted Ghorra, Marty Golden and Jerry Kassar did as well!

Sadly, Steve Saperstein hasn’t been a fair or honorable candidate  towards Mathylde Frontus. I had to look up Steve’s age because I couldn’t believe how disrespectful he was towards his opponent.

  • Steve hounded  Dr. Frontus online:

Steve must have realized that Dr. Frontus’  background and experience made her a much better candidate than he was.

Marty Golden Fearmongering

See Senator Marty Golden Fearmongering  his friends.

First Marty lied to them. Golden students aren’t in session on Election Day. This isn’t something new – it’s been that way for many years. Many people in the room with Senator Golden know that public schools are closed, but none of them spoke up to say the truth. Why?

Most people in Brooklyn aren’t scared. They don’t see people on the street and think they are going to be attacked by them – this is just weird!

Granades Found at Narrows Avenue and 71st Street – Bay Ridge – Residents Evacuated

Around 6:45 this evening,  six grenades were discovered by a homeowner on  Narrows Avenue and 71st Street in Bay Ridge.

Loud Labs Video

The grenades were left behind by a tenant. (See story)

If you heard the police sirens and that strange siren tonight, it was the NYC Bomb squad responding to check out the grenades.

Residents were evacuated from their homes and the street was sectioned off to traffic.

Councilman Justin Brannan just updated Bay Ridge with this important message: “Just spoke with NYPD. The reports of a suspicious package on 71st Street and Narrows Avenue appears to be 2-3 old inactive or deactivated collectible hand grenades — the type you can buy in a military surplus store. They appear to have been thrown in the trash by a neighbor cleaning out their house and were found and reported by someone passing by. Out of an abundance of caution, PD has called in the bomb squad to investigate. Will share when I get more information. This is all preliminary right now coming directly from the 68 Precinct on the scene.”

On Twitter Brannan shared:

Councilman Brannan’s communication is always fantastic. My friend lives over there and I was  worried because I saw the Loudlabs News message.

See Loudlabs Video here (it’s a bit loud so lower your volume first)

And of course the Citizen App didn’t help….

I’m glad it wasn’t as serious as it initially sounded and the granade wasn’t active.

Malliotakis Hasn’t Helped Bay Ridge Businesses

Brooklyn Eagle

In 2014, Nicole Malliotakis stood with members of the Third Avenue Merchants Association and a store owner and Paula Katinas from the Brooklyn Eagle told us that Malliotakis was helping the merchants with NFIB.

It’s 2018 and that store has a ‘FOR RENT’ sign.  And it’s a store a lot of residents in Bay Ridge love.

The rent for stores like the one above is close to $4000 a month.

Paula Katina’s article included this quote:

Nicole Malliotakis hasn’t help small businesses in Bay Ridge. See here

Yesterday, Nicole Malliotakis took pictures  with store owners in Bay Ridge – we saw that the Third Avenue Merchants Association wasn’t with her.

Thank God.

Can you imagine how frustrating it must be for these shop owners to see Nicole Malliotakis only during election season?

Meanwhile, stores are closing on 3rd and 5th Avenue, even ones which have been in business for a long time.   Marty Golden and Malliotakis haven’t done a thing about it.

Nicole Malliotakis and Marty Golden even had the nerve to stand in our neighborhood and discuss why ebay and online sales shouldn’t be taxed (see here and here).

Where are the tax breaks for small business owners that make this community great?

Malliotakis sees this position as a stepping stone. After wasting time and running for Mayor, Malliotakis forgot to do anything for this neighborhood – see what little information Malliotakis sent to Community Board 10.

Nicole Malliotakis should hae been one of the first ones talking about the SHSAT, but it took her a long time to respond.

In 2016, 10,000 people didn’t vote for Nicole Malliotakis – they voted for no one.

Malliotakis and her team take my blog post personally.  They don’t realize that we expect Nicole to do the job of an assembly woman and not just take pictures or write on social media about Mayor de Blasio.

This is our neighborhood and we will be here long after Nicole Malliotakis.

Malliotakis doens’t have the connection to this community needed to lead here or she never would have left her office looking like this so that someone else would have to clean it.

Vote for #BayRidge this year…..regardless of your political party.

Marty Golden Did Not Vote for the Bill Which Became Ian’s Law

Marty Golden lying

Marty Golden voted against Ian’s Law. – You can see the bill and his vote here.

Senator Golden wrote on social media that he voted in favor of Ian’s Law which is Senate Bill S6263C and Marty showed this picture on social media. That is incorrect.  Marty is showing his vote for a previous version of the bill – not the actual bill which became Ian’s Law – S6263C.

Marty Golden is PURPOSELY deceiving people. He knows that Ian’s Law had three bill amendments and that Senate Bill S6263C was the bill that became law. Golden voted against the final version of the bill – you can see it here.

On social media, Senator Golden is showing his vote on bill 6263B – but that is not the bill that became law. He is purposely trying to deceive this community. The third version of the bill – 6263C was the bill that became law. AND MARTY VOTED AGAINST IT.

Senator Golden is hoping you won’t look it up. I looked it up for you, BUT  you can see it here for yourself.

Why is this bill important?

Because Ian’s Law protects people like you and I from insurance companies that don’t want to pay.

Marty Golden changed.

Thankfully other elected politicians were more responsible and voted for it so it became law.

Ian’s Law:

  • Ian’s Law stops insurance providers from dropping coverage without notifying policyholders.

  • Insurance companies  must get permission from the Insurance Department to drop a line of coverage. Companies must provide information to show that the insurance company isn’t dropping coverage for a particular individual.

  • Ian’s Law allows people like you and I to challenge insurance companies in  court if they discontinue lines of coverage in violation of the new law.

Senator Golden knows Andrew Gounardes is an honest person and he is trying to make it look like Andrew lied, but Andrew didn’t – he’s been an honest man.

Before writing this, I waited to see if a mistake was made on social media and Marty Golden would correct his mistake (sometimes staff of politicians write incorrect information because they don’t know the truth). Andrew Gounardes tweeted Marty and so did this person and  this one. Golden did not correct the mistake OR APOLOGIZE for lying about Andrew.

Anyone supporting Golden’s campaign should be embarrassed because you know he has done wrong by this community SO MANY times.
