Thanksgiving Eve in Bay Ridge – 11/21

I don’t know if Thanksgiving Eve is celebrated everywhere, but it’s a night to go out in Brooklyn! 

The Wicked Monk is on 3rd Avenue and 95th Street

When I was in college, I always spent Thanksgiving Eve in Bay Ridge after helping my mother prep for the next day. I couldn’t wait to get down to 5th Avenue and go to The Wicked Monk….it was on 5th Avenue back then!

Some Bay Ridge people head down to  4th Avenue and 58th Street in Sunset Park to go to Irish Haven!

Eric Ulrich Burned Nicole Malliotakis after Trolling

  

Team Malliotakis trolled Eric Ulrich this morning. Ulrich responded by burning Malliotakis repeatedly. If Nicole Malliotakis was a leader, she would tell her team to stop trolling people and talking about her failed mayoral election. She can’t stop talking about it, so they can’t either.

Ulrich tweeted about the NYC snow storm fiasco and Malliotakis’ Team pounced at the moment to remind Ulrich that he didn’t support Malliotakis during her mayoral run. Get your popcorn out for this one!  Actual tweets were here (oopsie some pols deleted their tweets…see below).

Eric Ulrich  supported Bo Dietl over Malliotakis so #Revenge is in play as Ulrich recently announced he is running for Public Advocate.

Team Malliotakis is still #bitter that Ulrich supported Nicole’s opponent.

At this point Malliotakis should have told her team to stop because it’s just silly, but it just went on and Ulrich easily burned her.

Ooooh Burn!

Jerry Kassar is Chief of Staff to the ousted Marty Golden. Here Jerry has the chance to back a good Republican candidate that people like and instead he joined the trolling party for Malliotakis on Twitter.

LOL…ooohh another one!

Cheesy…. Why does she play these games with her team? This isn’t leadership and the reason why she doesn’t get things done.

Absolutely not true….Team Malliotakis attacked me when I wrote the truth about Malliotakis. Nicole puts out a lot of press releases, but she isn’t as productive as she claims.  Team Malliotakis took everything people said personally instead of understanding why people didn’t want Nicole as the mayor. Thankfully, newspapers wrote the truth about Malliotakis….and press release politics didn’t win.

Later in the afternoon, Malliotakis tweeted Mark Peters for Public Advocate. Peters was just fired by de Blasio. This just made Nicole look petty.

Nicole Malliotakis’ outburst may have helped Eric Ulrich earn some votes….and Ulrich knows it!

While Team Malliotakis claims they will “tear down” Ulrich, Eric Ulrich is well-liked by many.

Look how differently people see the world:

Team Malliotakis doesn’t think anything is wrong with trolling someone AND then they want an apology even though they attacked Eric Ulrich. LOL.

We are considering Ulrich for the position as he is a moderate Republican. We can’t vote for Jumane Williams after knowing about his driving record.

We just got rid of Marty Golden, who had a similar driving record and people are tired of politicians who think they are above the law.  We wouldn’t support someone who has so little regard for people’s lives. Williams is just looking for a new job to hop to, but it definitely shouldn’t be public advocate.   

Nicole Malliotakis isn’t known for supporting reliable candidates. In this past election, Malliotakis pushed Steve Saperstein in Bay Ridge/Dyker Heights, even though Saperstein admitted to taking money from Developers. Last November, Nicole Malliotakis endorsed John Quaglione who received over $60,000 from a Super Pac – see more here. Many home owners in Bay Ridge don’t know this…..and Nicole Malliotakis supporters aren’t telling them either.

My Assemblywoman, Dr. Mathylde Frontus was sworn in today. Congratulations Mathylde and congratulations to all of us who have a great representative!

Artists – Paint a 2019 Sing for Hope Piano

APPLICATIONS FOR 2019 SING FOR HOPE PIANO ARTISTS ARE BEING ACCEPTED 

Be a part of NYC’s largest recurring community art initiative, which has placed over 450 pianos throughout the five boroughs since 2010. For three weeks, the Sing for Hope Pianos remain outdoors for anyone and everyone to play. We then donate the pianos to local schools, healthcare facilities, and community-based organizations so they can reach under-resourced New Yorkers year-round.

Third Avenue Merchants Need New PR

Third Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn is one of the most beautiful places to be!

Yet, this year everyone is wondering,  “What the heck happened to the Christmas lights on Third Avenue in Bay Ridge?” 

Last year, the lights went up late because the merchants switched companies due to rising costs. (See here)

This year, 3rd Avenue has old light sets strung across streets, but there are a lot of bulbs that are out and even whole lines which aren’t lit like the one above. It’s like they were hired by someone who doesn’t live here and doesn’t care.

I love vintage and classic Christmas items, but these lights are just old and not working  – it’s not a good look. Back when those lights were used, we didn’t have such bright LED street lamps. The Third Avenue Merchants need someone who is interested in moving forward with technology and keeping things fresh.  If the lights are too expensive, do something else….have some teens put garland on the poles or make some backdrops for instagram photos so people are attracted to the Avenue. (Remax did that for Halloween and it was a hit – see here and here)

On Fifth Avenue in Bay Ridge, the lights are vibrant and beautiful – even if a few go out, the display still looks great.

Even the social media accounts for The Third Avenue Merchants are weird. The Facebook and Instagram pictures should be of new businesses and people enjoying their products. Instead every week, there are pictures of the same people from different years – like it’s Throwback Thursday all the time (see here and here).

The 3rd Avenue Merchants account should have pictures like these:

The Merchants of Third Avenue account should look like this account and contain pictures that entice people to Third Avenue. It doesn’t take a business degree to know that – just a little common sense. The 5th Avenue Merchants in Bay Ridge highlight their members.  Why wouldn’t the Merchant’s Association help out and promote new businesses on the Avenue? Why not have a contest like this Bay Ridge liquor store did to get customers into the store?

The person managing the Third Avenue Merchants Social Media Accounts may not even live in Bay Ridge anymore because why wouldn’t they just put up fresh snaps all of the time? Store owners told me they don’t have access to the account, so they can’t update it. The Third Avenue Merchants just needs new PR!

Councilman Brannan gave the Third Avenue Merchants $36,000 to EXPLORE forming a bid. (Story here) The wording here is strange. I hope that doesn’t mean a few people burn through the money talking about how good a BID would be versus if there will be more fees/taxes (Yes, there are)

Years ago, some members of my family helped set up the BID in Downtown Brooklyn. The group hired an attorney and the paperwork was done in two or three weeks……they didn’t need money to EXPLORE if they needed a BID – they just went and did it.  Yes, it cost more money and it raised their taxes, but it was worth it.

Jeatiame Santiago – Missing from Brooklyn

Have you seen Jeatiame Santiago?

She is a mother to three children and her family misses her.

Jeatiame Santiago  is a 34-year-old woman, who is missing from her family in Brooklyn. If she looks familiar, she went to New Utrecht High School.

Jeatiame is 5’1 ” tall. She has long hair and green eyes. She has a tattoo on her left foot of three flowers.

She was last seen in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn on October 7, 2018 at 7:45 am.

NYC Politicians are in Pueto Rico – #Somos 2018

From November 7th to November 11th some NYC politicians have taken a trip to Puerto Rico for Somos.

Why do NYC Politicians feel the need to take trips outside of NYC?

Who is paying for these trips that NYC Representatives are taking? That’s the part that really has me concerned.

The Reform Party Lost Ballot Access

 

In order for a party to be able to stay on the ballot,  at least 50,000 people had to vote in the gubernatorial election on the Reform Party line. Only 26,000 votes were received on the Reform Party line so they lost the ability to be on the ballot next time. Many people think The Reform Party died on November 6, 2018, but if you watched Curtis Sliwa for awhile, you know he isn’t going to give up on this.

I think the Reform Party should dispute this in court as the ballot was hard to handle, difficult to open and flipping it also made many  people nervous that they weren’t going to do it correctly and vote, so people may not have voted on the correct line for their candidate.

All  five minor political parties didn’t perform as well as 2014 – so the ballot could have had something to do with it:

• Conservative Party  250,00 (in 2014) to 238,000 (in 2018).
• The Working Families Party  126,000 to 105,000
• Independence Party  77,000 to 63,000.
• Women’s Equality Party (WEP) 53,000 to 25,000 – they also lost ballot access

Marty Golden Won’t Concede

This election is going to drag on because paper ballots won’t be counted until Wednesday, November 14th and a machine audit was scheduled for Friday, November 16th.

 
In the video, Paula Katinas from the Brooklyn Eagle told us that she was at Marty Golden’s Victory Party at the Bay Ridge Manor on Election Night.

On Election night. The Brooklyn Eagle Paper had tweeted that Golden conceded, but he hadn’t.

Golden said he isn’t giving up.
 

Kadia Goba, journalist from Bklyner shared this:

There’s 1,433 absentee ballots so far. BOE accept ballots for 6 more days. @agounardes is leading with 1129 votes with 95% of scanners reported.

Bay Ridge Voted Marty Golden Out of Office

I remember one day hearing Marty Golden say, “You want a Democratic Senate too?”

Yes, Marty we want anyone but you!

It’s nothing personal – we just want a Senator who is interested in writing bills for our neighborhood and helping our neighbors.
