December 9, 2018Visitors to Dyker Lights Are Messy – FBBR’s Solution
The Dyker Heights Christmas lights bring thousands of people. The traffic from visitors also brings a lot of garbage – mostly cups, water bottles or food wrappers. Garbage cans in the area are getting overfilled quickly – usually they don’t.
The good people at Fight Back Bay Ridge are Fight Back Bay Ridge put together some volunteers who are going to take shifts on the weekend and have garbage bags to collect refuse from the visitors. FBBR is working with the NYPD police liaison on this.
If you want to volunteer contact FBBR. Teens who need service hours are welcome too.
Can you imagine living there while bus loads of people are being transported in to see the lights. Imagine you weren’t interested in Christmas or lights – yikes. This must seem very intrusive to a very quiet neighborhood like Dyker Heights.
