Justin Brannan Helps Girl Scouts Get Connected to the Press
![]()
Girl Scouts today are more outspoken than they were years ago!
The Gotham Gazzette featured a story about Councilman Justin Brannan helping Girl Scouts. Some members of Troop 2653 met with Brannan to discuss how some NYC schools weren’t complying with the law in providing girls with pads or tampons.
Brannan helped connect the Girl Scouts with journalists.
Brannan said, “When New York City passed the historic law to ensure all public school students had access to free tampons and pads two years ago, we celebrated. But what’s the point of fighting to pass laws if they ultimately aren’t being implemented or enforced?” said Brannan, a first-term Democrat who represents souther Brooklyn’s 43rd Council District, in an emailed statement. “I applaud the Girl Scouts for doing this important investigative work which will force the DOE to finally comply with the law. We adults can all learn a lesson from their example.”
Applause for Brannan for taking the time to speak to these young women.

December 27, 2018Green Lights Seen in Brooklyn Sky
If you saw the glowing green light from outside, it’s said to be from a transformer exploding/fire at Con Edison’s plant in Astoria, Queens, rather than a Martian invasion.
Seen here, here, here, here, here and here in Queens
In Queens, the light looked more blue – see here. LaGuardia airport was closed for a very short time.
If there really is an alien invasion, we are in trouble because people were just taking pictures/videos and no one was doing anything. Update 12/28: This morning City Councilman tweeted this so some someone must have realized there was no plan….if ET visits.

December 27, 2018Carlos Menchaca Should Not Run for Public Advocate – Fired Staff Before Xmas
The Daily News reported that Sunset Park Councilman, Carlos Menchaca fired three staff members right before before Christmas. On Menchaca’s website, he lists seven employees – so almost half his office was fired.
But wait there’s more….. at the end of the article: “At the start of 2018, Menchaca lost a staffer a month in January, February, March and April, according to public records.” WOW! That’s a lot of people fired in a year.
The article goes on to talk about Menchaca has a life coach. I guess that’s needed when people have a stressful job. He pays for that himself, so that’s his business.
BUT HERE’S WHERE IT IS NOT:
Carlos Menchaca took his staff on a “one-day staff retreat” organized by his life coach. The Daily News stated that Menchaca’s office paid $4,450 for the retreat. The news wrote: “Kaye charged $1,200 for facilitating the one-day retreat, and $250 an hour for planning it, according to the contract.”
Do you know what $4450 would have done for Sunset Park? Children and community programs in Sunset Park could have done a lot with that amount of money.
Ughhh this guy wants to be NYC’s Public Advocate!
It doesn’t take a life coach to tell someone they shouldn’t run for Public Advocate. Menchaca failed to lead when there was a problem in Sunset Park. When de Blasio moved homeless into Sunset Park hotels, Menchaca was silent as the neighborhood protested (and were joined by residents in Queens).
If there is a photo-op or you need a Public Advocate to do some grandstanding, Menchaca is your man.

December 27, 2018Assemblywoman Frontus and Kings County Politics….What’s Up With KCP?
![]()
When we elected Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus to be our representative, we chose her to represent our community’s best interest.
Sometimes national issues hit city or state legislatures – but really they shouldn’t because NY has enough issues to deal with in our state.
The BDS movement wants the US to boycott products from Israel until Palestine’s control over the land is restored. BDS was an issue that NYC Council voted on in 2016. It was a heated and televised debate as their were a several Jewish Councilmen who were terse towards a very passionate audience who just wanted to be heard.
Israel is an ally of the United States and unless that has change, all elected representatives should be supporting that. I can’t stand when NY representatives want to push national/international issues when we have so many problems here to deal with. Dr. Frontus said she Supports the NYS Assembly’s Anti-BDS Legislation….and we agree with that.
Kings County Politics Blog must be having a slow day and are looking for clicks. They love to write about Mathylde Frontus, but it’s always in a questioning light. WHY KCP?
Mathylde Frontus was elected by the people and we know she will always be doing what is right and fair.
