Will Nicole Malliotakis Do the Work to Get The Property Tax Bill to Law?

Nicole Malliotakis has been trolling Mayor de Blasio on Twitter. So much so, that she forgot to mention that on May 6, 2019, right after Dan Crenshaw’s weekend visit, Malliotakis submitted property tax bill A7464 to the NY Assembly.

Nicole Malliotakis Adam Baumel

Now it’s not the property tax bill that Malliotakis promised with all the parts (see here), but it is a bill. I know many seniors were looking forward to the break that Malliotakis promised in September 2018, but I didn’t see any mention of senior citizens in the bill.

Here’s one problem: Malliotakis has not enlisted an co-sponsors or banged the drum on this topic. Malliotakis is well-known for her press releases, but there has no press release on this.  Yeah it’s sad that a consituent outside of her district is breaking the news. This bill might just sit there because Malliotakis isn’t doing the work on it.

Another problem: Nicole Malliotakis submitted this bill very late in the season. Serious legislators submitted their bills in January and February, so that they could go through committee. The Assembly goes on break soon, so there is a good chance this bill will be left in the dust if she doesn’t start getting support for it.

Conservative Party Blames Brannan for Out-of-District Library Event

The Brooklyn Conservatives  tweet is fear-mongering and divisive. And this one.

Councilman Justin Brannan is not the Councilman for the area where the library is located. Fran knows this, so why is she tagging Brannan?

Councilman Brannan’s district is in the dark purple.

The tweet reads: “All people of any preference or stripe can agree.”  REALLY?!  Maybe someone from another state would write that, but people born in Brooklyn are pretty accepting of others.

If Fran was worried about library funding, why didn’t she contact the library or the Councilman for that area (Alan Maisel). Better yet, why didn’t she research it or actually go and see what it is before tweeting about it.

While the Drag Queen storytime may be a new idea to someone who lives under a rock, it’s been happening all over NYC, including in Bay Ridge since 2017. I’ve never seen it live, but the news has reported  the story hour session many times. And the videos are all over Youtube.

If a parent doesn’t want their child to experience the storytime with the Drag Queens, they won’t bring their child during that hour. But any of them that I have seen are well attended.

Fran and the Brooklyn Conservatives should know that many people in Bay Ridge are more concerned with the NYS Conservative Party accepting money from the NRA. The NYS Conservative Party’s office is here in our community. Years ago, Jerry Kassar was adamant about not accepting money from the NRA. Why hasn’t he returned the NRA’s money now that he is the head of the Conservative Party?

Jerry must remember that a Dyker Heights boy took his parent’s gun and shot his sister. Local papers were hush hush, but Bklyner did the story – see here

In February, I wrote about the strange website the Brooklyn Conservative Party had up and there were a lot of new people – see here. Fran’s name and picture wasn’t even on of the site, so maybe that’s the reason for the strange tweet.

Even now, the address on the site is in Manhattan and the phone number belongs to another company. The map points to Australia?!  It looks like out of district people are running the site and they wouldn’t know that this library isn’t in Brannan’s district.

WPIX shared that the  man above allegedly exposed himself to two young boys in Brooklyn on Friday while they walked home from school!  See story here  and here

This man went over to a 8 yr. old and 11 yr. old on 68th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue in Bay Ridge, allegedly exposed himself and then ran.

Sadly, the parents called 911 three times for help and the police did not respond.

Circles Cafe in Bay Ridge Closed – Electrical Outage

See June 26th Update here

The beloved Circles Cafe at 6931 – 3rd  Avenue has been closed a few days due to an electrical outage.

Circles had moved to Ovington Avenue last April – see here

This is on their website

There website address is: circlescatering.com. Yet there isn’t a catering menu on there. I only remember it being circlescafe.com

Then I looked at the code to their website and in the code was: “Welcome to Circles Cafe – American Restaurant, Bay Ridge 11209, Circles Cafe Staten Island”  (See here)

Circles Cafe Staten Island??

Is there a Circles Cafe in Staten Island?

I didn’t think so, but when I searched for it, there was a new listing for Circles West Restaurant. I don’t know if that place has anything to do with this Circles.

Dandy Lion Coming to 8901- 3rd Avenue

Welcome to Bay Ridge, Dandy Lion!

The Dandy Lion is opening at 8901 -3rd Avenue where The Grotto Restaurant used to be.

The neighborhood was buzzing over the bright yellow sign. It appears to be a restaurant – maybe a good brunch spot?

There is a Dandy Lion in Iowa – click here to see menu.

Years ago, it was light yellow when it was Huckleberry’s.

This has been a hard corner to maintain a business for a long time. Huckleberry’s was there before The Grotto (and I remember Uncle Buck’s was there before that).

Someone mentioned that this corner was cursed.  It’s easy to “uncurse” something – just pray. If you are the prayerful type – please say these words for the new business:

Good luck to the new owners! May this business be a bright spot on 3rd Avenue and in Bay Ridge as you intend it to be!

Why Does Bay Ridge Smell Like Fire?

I saw the firetrucks heading up to 4th Avenue (from 3rd). There were going to the car fire on the Belt Parkway (around 88th Street).

Then Councilman Brannan shared info about the chemical fire in NJ:

Residents heard about the fire through the news. There was a fire under the Pulaski Skyway overpass in NJ – a chlorine factory was on fire. (See here)

I love when Councilman Brannan shares what it is going on – even on a Friday night!
