The Family Store Will be on TV on 5/23

The Family Store at 6905 – 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge got a visit from NBC’s NY Live TV Show! Pictured above is Lauren Scala and comedian Chris Distefano. The segment will air on Thurday, May 23rd at 11:30 AM on NBC Channel 4!

If you haven’t tried The Family Store – get there! The food is delicious – you will eat vegetables that you never liked before and love them!  And it’s usually easy to park there too.

RIP Simona Aguilar

Simona Aguilar, a beautiful 37-year-old mother from PA drove to the  Verrazzano Bridge and jumped this morning before 10:00 am.  See here

It was reported that she was initially alive when she was found, but then died.  Her family told the paper that Simona was depressed and got help. She must not have realized that she needed more help. This is so sad.

RIP Simona.

Prayers for Simona’s husband, daughter and family.

Two New Charter School – Sunset Park 2019

Brooklyn Rise is a new charter school opening at 5224 5th Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

They just announced their home over Rite Aid. Even more exciting, students will play soccer for two hours on Friday at Socceroof on 53rd Street.

Their website is accepting registration for Kindergarten and First Grade now.

Another new Charter School being setup in Sunset Park is opening.  The Leap Dual-Language School  is opening in the old bank  at 5323 5th Avenue – this is one block away from Brooklyn Rise! This is also for K-1 grade students.

This school is promising to make your child bilingual by 5th grade. Sounds good.

If you don’t like the choice the city gave you for your child, go apply to one of these schools.

The nice thing about new schools is money is pouring into them and all the stakeholders are going to do whatever they can to make the school successful.

Norma’s Craft Store in Bay Ridge is Updating!

Norma’s Craft Store at 7813 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge was closed today because they painted the floor. There is going to be a more room for parties and to do crafts!

We love this store – not just because it’s a great place to get supplies and for little ones to make thing, but Norma has a lot of ideas and is ready to help and offer advice for a project if you need it.

Congratulations – we love you Norma!
