Yellowhook CSA

People pick up produceon 80th Street between 4th and 5th Avenues on Wednesdays 6-8 pm and starts June 12th.
You can join at any point in the season from June – Nov and the rates are prorated accordingly.
A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is basically like a subscription to a farm. You pay upfront for the subscription you want – pick-ups every week or every other week, eggs, fruits, etc – and then every week the farm, located in Riverhead, Long Island, delivers fresh organic fruit, veggies and eggs to the CSA pick-up location.
You get to enjoy seasonal organic produce for a much more affordable price than buying organic in the neighborhood supermarkets!
Community Supported Agriculture help promote small farms, environmentally responsible agriculture, and reduce your carbon footprint.

Community Board 10 has a meeting today to discuss the bike lanes.

Someone shared this covered bike lane in Brooklyn – the cars can still park….this is sooo good. Let’s hope they put safety first.

June 11th Camp in Bay Ridge

The Ridge Creative Center has a few spots open still for a full day arts program for students on June 11th when schools are closed.
Also there are a few spots left on: Thursday, June 27th and Friday, June 28th.
They also have a Half Day Program on Wednesday, June 26th. Half Day service is $20 less per day.

The cost is $70 per day for those registered in our program and $80 for those who are not.
Each day will include: a trip, an art project and a snack. Students need to bring their own lunch.

They need 6 children registered per day to open.

Nicole Malliotakis Spreading Nonsense Online

Nicole Malliotakis is an Assemblywoman elected by people who don’t know she engages in online nonsense.
If you don’t agree with another pol, then say so, but to share a document calling him “Little Max Rose” is just being nasty.

Insulting a man for his height is what trolls do.
What does his height have to do with with his job?
Rose is an effective Congressman. Max Rose hasn’t stooped low to Malliotakis’ level.

He responded to the nonsense and as you can see by the Likes and Retweets – the people are with Rose.

All Rose needs to do is discuss Malliotakis’ performance record over the years and it’s over.

Printspace in Bay Ridge – June 7th

On Friday night from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, join Printspace at 509 Senator Street for First Friday.
First Friday gives people a chance to try a new printmaking technique every month.
In June, Printspace will be printing Monoprint Drawings.
Experiment with inking a piece of plexiglass placing a paper on top, drawing on the paper and transferring ink to the back of the drawing. And THEN, run the plexiglass through the press onto a second paper. And of course, repeat!
Light snacks and all materials provided for a $10 cover.

Brannan Calls for Bridge Barrier

Councilman Brannan joins Steve Matteo in asking for a bridge barrier. Story in the paper here
In February 2012, statistics showed: “On average, the Verrazano sees about two suicides a year, and between four and six attempts foiled by officers patrolling the bridge. (source)
The suicide rate from the Verrazzano Bridge has increased. I’ve been watching it since I saw that statistic in 2012 – see all the people whojumped/attempted to jump since then.
You would think someone in NYC would say it was more cost effective to put up a net or barriers, rather than use emergency response power and resources each time – to attempt to save a life….and being unsuccessful in many attempts.

NYPD Active in Bay Ridge Today

June 4th – Adam Balhetchet – “Two individuals in a black Dodge Challenger were pursued by Highway Patrol, possibly regarding fleeing a traffic stop. Unknown what they may have been stopped for. It happened around 6:30 pm Tuesday, within the confines of the 68th Precinct. The Dodge went against traffic on a highway ramp at 86 St & Gatling Place, possibly hitting a pedestrian, causing a leg fracture. Police stated on radio “we’ve got a 3rd party civilian with a broken leg” and rushed an ambulance to the location. One of the suspects were arrested by police, and another suspect possibly jumped over a fence and fled westbound on 86th St. His description is a male, black, 5′ 3-4″, wearing a red shirt. The pedestrian was treated and transported by EMS in serious but stable condition to an area hospital. Police also requested an ambulance to the 68th Precinct for the prisoner. The investigation is ongoing.”
