Van Leeuwen Opened in Bay Ridge Today

Van Leeuwen Opened in Bay Ridge today at 8501 – 3rd Avenue.  It’s a built-in walk up window in Bagel Story on the corner of 85th Street.

They sell Brooklyn-made ice cream and have vegan flavors so many vegans have been waiting for this place to open.  See here

Facade Peeling Off of Bay Ridge Home

I’ve seen the stucco crack, but I have never seen it get like to a point where the police come out to check it.

Some residents said it has been cracked like that for a long time, but someone must have gotten worried and called it in.

Malliotakis Voted Againt Rent Relief Bills

Yesterday, the NY Assembly voted on a package of bills to give tenants some relief. Even though I don’t rent now, I know that rents are insane now.

Most politicians voting against the bills live in rural places, but Nicole Malliotakis represents part of Bay Ridge and Staten Island, so her vote should have been with the people.  See bill

Thankfully, the bill passed 95-42.  Dr. Frontus voted for the bill. (In the Senate, Andrew Gounardes knew his community needed some relief).  Andrew Cuomo signed the bills into law.

Senator Gounardes Led on the Bill for 9/11 First Responders

Senator Andrew Gounardes was THE SPONSOR of bill 5890 which gave sick leave to 9/11 First Responders.

We’re surprised to see the bill passed with 62-0 as a few weeks ago Nicole Malliotakis brought Dan Crenshaw to NY. Crenshaw was not supporting the bill at the time and his reason was ridiculous.

It’s amazing to see our senator leading on topics that matter to NY’ers. NY’ers are glad to see 9/11 heroes being taken care of.  See story

Corey Johnson Failed to Oversee the Property Tax Commission

Last May, Mayor de Blasio and Corey Johnson played  politics and created a property tax commission.

Over a year later, there is no response from the property tax commission.

de Blasio and Johnson just hoped we forget. Afterall both are running campaigns so neither cares.

Changing Traffic Flow in Sunset Park

On Wednesday, June 19th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the Sunset Park Community Board is going to vote on changing the traffic flow on 1st and 2nd  Avenues.

I have no idea if it is a good idea or not, but those who live near there should voice their concerns.

How does it impact those who live up the block from these avenues?
