Gounardes, Brannan and Frontus Override CB 10’s Decision
I didn’t realize the terrible impact of this decision at first.
I wanted to believe that these “good people” were doing the right thing for our community.
While out at a local place on 3rd Avenue, we got into a discussion with some residents who read some Internet news that came up in Google. More articles continued to pop up and all echoed the same thing.
It should be noted that pols sent a letter to Keith Bray and in LIGHTING SPEED, the Department of Transportation responded saying the bike lanes were approved. Have we seen anything happen that quickly? (The traffic light near Century’s happened that fast). YUP….this is not good.
Our elected representatives didn’t tell Bay Ridge resident how the Department of Transportation (DOT) responded. Instead Streetsblog wrote: “On Wednesday, the DOT told Streetsblog” REALLY? So the DOT has someone sitting there calling a blog? LOL. We know one of our representatives told the special interest group that he had taken care of things for them. (See here)
How’s that for them planting the story to their special interest group who were banging on them? You will notice that neither Brannan, Gounardes or Frontus shared anything about this on social media, even though all have active Facebook and Twitter accounts. Cowards much? Corruption exists in this silence. AND THEY WANT US TO JUST ACCEPT THE CORRUPTION.
Here’s the story to our community which didn’t come out until much later than what the special interest group received. We could feel Doris Cruz’ sentiments. How Honky-dory that the story is name, “Bay Ridge is getting Bike Lanes Afterall.” This is called “playing the media…..we are all very familiar with that. Some journalists can be played a lot easier than others. We wish Kadia Goba was around. We know which politician planted this story because he used the same journalist each time to do his releases. #Gotcha
Finally, Councilman Brannan appointed the Dan to CB 10 – Dan is the guy who wrote incorrectly about the Community Board Meeting and CB 10 had to take the time write the truth. Seriously, Councilman Brannan couldn’t have been any more disrespectful. It’s good he doesn’t need our votes in the next election.

June 22, 2019Community Boards 10 – Decisions for Bay Ridge
Recently, Community Board 10 met and voted on some issues for our community. We wanted to say that we support Community Board 10’s decision and appreciate their support for the community.
Community Board 10 is composed of people that former Councilman Vinnie Gentile proposed, Councilman Brannan and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams proposed. If you want to serve on the community board, you can apply here.
A few years ago, we researched the community board and we thought, that there were a lot of great people speaking up and saying exactly what we would say. Some members are very impressive and well-spoken. Others have a lot of heart and love for this community. We didn’t see any corruption or people forcing an agenda on the community (AT ALL).
Community Board Members are volunteers who give up time each month to serve on committees and the general board meeting as well. There are 50 members on the community board and members serve for two-year terms. Having 50 people allows for there to be a good mix of people voting on issues.
Sometimes people may not agree on the decision of the Community Board, but hopefully the person thought the community boards process was fair in the decision.

June 21, 2019Gounardes Keeps Asking This….But Then Doesn’t Follow Up
Every Friday, Senator Gounardes put this up.
Of course I responded to it one Friday and asked about property taxes. Senator Gounardes (or his staff) responded and said he had some ideas. But then nothing happened.
If his staff is putting this up, it’s really just as bad as the previous senators staff as the things people are asking for aren’t getting done. How do I know? I looked at four of them from the Winter. #SocialMediaFail
Residents are under the assumption that he’s listening, when it’s just a way to appear like he is listening or in other words – Play Politics.

June 19, 2019Stephen Harrison Won the Residents’ Case
When I heard that Stephen Harrison Won the Bay Ridge Resident’s Case against NYC, I cheered.
If you remember way back to 2017…..the Sanitation Department decided that they weren’t going to pick up the trash on some blocks – one was Wogan Terrace (94th between 5th and Fort Hamilton). The Sanitation Department told the residents to bring their trash to the end of the block and put it in front of another resident’s home. Everyone knew it was bogus, but the residents had to fight City Hall.
Steve Harrison represented the residents – see story here.
I noticed Harrison at Community Board 10 meetings and found myself nodding along with what he was saying all the time. Steve is very clear, well-spoken and it’s obvious he has taken a lot of time to think about the right choices for Bay Ridge. One time I heard his voice on a recording and didn’t know it was his. Steve was speaking out for his neighbors and making sure that everyone present knew what was going on.
Steve Harrison is a hero for our community and someone I admire very much.

June 19, 2019We Thought We Couldn’t Do Any Worse than Eric Adams….Antonio Reynoso Would be WORSE.
Eric Adams is term-limited – THANK GOD. Brooklyn needs a borough president who actually loves Brooklyn and the people here.
Candidates are coming forward to run for the position. We didn’t think we can do any worse than Eric Adams, but Antonio Reynoso is a lot WORSE. Reynoso is term-limited in NYC Council, so he’s looking for his next paycheck.
Reynoso represents the other side of Brooklyn and Queens. There is NO WAY he should represent Brooklyn because he doesn’t seem to understand the people or even what’s going on in Brooklyn!
1) Antonio Reynoso wants to take control away from Community Boards. SMH…..Seriously? Reynoso wants bike lanes so it’s okay if they are shoved on a community….even if they don’t want them. People who serve on these community boards give up their time to represent their neighbors because Reynoso wants to run his agenda, he wants to take away their say. See here
2) Antonio Reynoso, as the Sanitation Chair of NYC Council recommended that residents be charged to have their garbage picked up. Apparently, Reynoso thought NYC residents were getting free garbage pickup. Reynoso complained that in other places in the United States, people pay for sanitation services. NY’ers already pay for trash pickup – Reynoso doesn’t realized the tax is called “tax’em until they move out of NYC.” See here
3) Under Reynoso as the Sanitation of NYC, streets seemed to be a lot dirtier than they were before. (Just sayin’…….I doubt there is any Brooklynite who would disagree with me here.)
4) Reynoso’s plan is to force small businesses to use certain garbage carting services. That is sooo wrong! This is America – people can purchase from whomever they want. See here I have no idea who is benefitting here, but from the moment I heard this plan, I could see the word corruption written all over it. Some companies are choosen and businesses will need to purchase a garbage carting plan from that company. Can you imagine how this will hurt small business owners in Bay Ridge?
5) While parents in our Bay Ridge community are fighting over the SHSAT, Antonio is speaking against them! Parents go to work and after work they attend these meetings to fight for their children’s education. They don’t want to spend their evening that way. These parent didn’t make the system that exists today.
If we were talking about sports, no one would care if parents paid for coaches or special classes for the athletes to be successful. For these children, education is their sport – it’s what they are good at and enjoy.
The city should be reproducing successful programs where parents are this engaged. All these years, Antonio Reynoso was SILENT when the results of the Specialized Schools came out. Reynoso NEVER spoke out for any group in Brooklyn. See here
Why hasn’t Antonio Reynoso visited the successful schools where these students want to go. When there are issues with education, politicians should be talking to successful EDUCATION leaders in our community. Let them lead this conversation! We are sooo tired of politicians playing politics over our school sytem.
6) Reynoso is so full of himself that he retweets his own messages (see the top of the picture above). That means he doesn’t have a clue about social media and is just obsessed with himself.
One of the things I think politicians should think about is….if they didn’t exist in this world, would what they have done gotten taken care of anyway? If the answer is YES, then they shouldn’t run for office. There are plenty of people who have great ideas and want to move this city forward without shoving things down people’s throats.
Reynoso, sadly is one of those politicians who has a lot of pictures and articles out there, but hasn’t really done much.
Keep moving Reynoso – go run for something in Queens. By the way, Reynoso is said to be a Progressive. Progressives should make him turn in his card.
Let’s hope Brooklyn gets some better candidates.
