Iraqi House Received a Rave Review in the NYT

Above is the Quzi Chicken from Iraqi House in Bay Ridge – it’s delicious!

The Iraqi House Restaurant at 7215 – 3rd Avenue has only been open a few months. Already it caught the eye and tastebuds of the New York Times Food Critics. Read the review here

Lee had the Quzi Lamb and loved it. Lee is kind of picky so when he says something is delicious – it means it is really delicious. The meat falls off the bone!

This fosoulia (it’s like a bean soup).  It was so delicious. I want Mohammed to sell this as a soup, so I can stop and get some on the way home from work.

The Iraqi House is the only restaurant in NYC devoted to Iraqi cuisine! People love this food – see his reviews.

We had a chance to talk to Mohammed, the owner of Iraqi House. He is very pleasant and upbeat. We could see how proud he was of his family’s dishes because they are so delicious.

See more pics of the food here. Mohammed doesn’t make the dishes too spicy, in case you were wondering – just flavorful!

Stop into Iraqi House – definitely get the rice.  And get a bowl of the Fosoulia – they were so good.

Iraqi House is also on Seamless and Grubhub – there are a lot of  pics of the food on there.

Who Mentioned a Gun in Bay Ridge?

Yesterday, there was commotion on 4th Avenue and the police had to put a woman into an ambulance.  See here

This was the 68th Precinct’s tweet AFTER the woman was in custody:

Why wouldn’t the 68th Precinct clear the air and say there wasn’t a gun?

Man Jumped from the Verrazzano this Morning

Around 11:30 am this morning, a 50-year-old man jumped from the Verrazzano Bridge. His body was recovered by the Coast Guard in Fort Wadsworth. Story here

Councilman Steve Matteo has previously called for a baricade for the Verrazzano Bridge.

RIP….

To this man’s family – I am so sorry, but I am tired of feeling sorry. I hope you will sue the City  of New York for failing to provide fencing around this bridge. Over the years, many families of those who have jumped have called for a fence, so no one has to go through what they went though, but no one can hear them. There is an attorney out there who will take this case pro-bono, you might make some money AND MAYBE JUST MAYBE, you will help get a barricade put up around this bridge that we have been seeing people kill themselves for years – see here.

No Room for Spirit Halloween Store in Cesear’s Bay

For several years, Spirit Halloween Store would popup in mid-September in Cesear’s Bay at Bay Parkway. But’s there’s no room there this year because Olive Garden moved in and Toys R Us is becoming Target.

This year the Spirit Halloween Store opened on 86th Street and 24th Avenue where Dollar Tree used to be. 24-02 86th Street Brooklyn 11214.

What happens to Spirit Halloween after the Halloween season?  This article came from a Brooklynite and I thought it was interesting!

4th Avenue Commotion – Bay Ridge

Helicopters flying overhead and emergency vehicles all over – 4th Avenue between 93rd and 95th Street.

The R train is not stopping at 95th Street because of this commotion.

People are holding up phones videotaping nothing, but commotion. See here

The police closed 4th Avenue between 94th and 95th Street and two ambulances are standing by because a woman barricaded herself in at 9408 – 4th Avenue. Someone said she has a gun, but there is no one shooting. The streets are closed off and there are about 60 people here watching a few police officers walking around, but nothing is happening outside.

The police finally brought the woman out of the building, she was put into the ambulance and it drove away.

Fake Fedex Delivery – Robbery

Don’t open your door for a delivery. You can get it later. Story here

Click the video below, but first you brace yourself that this happened in Bay Ridge (around 6th Avenue and Bay Ridge Avenue)

On Monday afternoon, this fake FEDEX guy pretended he was delivering a package. The other man flashed a badge and pretended he was a police officer. (Source)   When the Bay Ridge resident answered the door, the man forced his way in and nd his friend robbed a family in Bay Ridge.

The Post shared this photo and the one below

How awful!!

The men tied the people up with tape. They took  $40,000 in cash and $80,000 in jewelry (in the video, you can see they make the resident open a safe)

A neighbor went into their home, took the pictures above, helped them remove the tape and called the police.

Below is the getaway car.

The police said they didn’t have the video above. (Source)  It first appeared on Reddit yesterday – see here.
