Why Does the Shore Road Bike Path Look So Bad?
The Shore Road Bike Path is a mess. This video shows the area from Cesears Bay to Bay Ridge. I didn’t take it, but I thought it was good to share, so everyone can see the area.
Actually, the path looks good and is solid from the 69th Street Pier to the bridge. That area falls in Councilman Justin Brannan’s district, so he’s taken care of that. But the whole length of the path isn’t in his district.
Mark Treyger is the Councilman for District 47. See the district map below.
Treyger lives in the gated community of Seagate, so the bike path isn’t his concern. This was brought to Treyger’s attention a long time ago by a pastor of a local church. Why didn’t he have it fixed?
Local runners no longer use the bike path for long races because parts of the path are so broken that it is dangerous for runners. That’s the sad part. This area has always been used for races.
Nicole Malliotakis is the Assemblywoman for the entire bike path (shown in yellow below).
Malliotakis has been busy running for election in 2020. She just continued running her mayoral election – sometimes she still lashes out at de Blasio like the election is still happening.
Diane Savino is the State Senator for the bike path.
Savino should walk her district once a year, so she has an idea what is going on. She could easily have asked a staff member to do it as well, if she cared.

October 1, 2019Brannan Calls Out the DOT & Gets Results
Councilman Brannan called out the NYC DOT twice on Twitter.
On the first issue, Brannan told the DOT to remove the barriers that have been sitting on Bay Ridge Avenue and 10th Avenue for two months.
![]()
The DOT rapidly responded and removed their stuff – pretty good use of Twitter.
![]()
On the second issue, Brannan didn’t get a response….and nothing will be done as usual.

October 1, 2019Eric Adams Breaks Ethics Rules AGAIN……Why Does Eric Adams Think He Is Above the Law?
Just Eric Adams doing the usual…..oops he got caught this time. His staffer blames it on a computer glitch. If you don’t type something into a message, then it isn’t going to appear – that’s not a computer glitch. And everyone kn0ws it.

October 1, 2019Grimm is Marko Kepi’s Campaign Chair
Yesterday, Marko Kepi held his announcement rally in a parking lot in Staten Island (See here). It was a beautiful day to have an outside party. Kepi threw his hat into the race for the Assembly seat that Nicole Malliotakis is vacating. Interestingly, former Congressman Michael Grimm is Marko Kepi’s campaign chair.
Shorefront News reported that Kepi had 500 people in attendance at his campaign launch.

Kepi must have been pleased with the turnout, as he shared this video on Twitter:

Rally videos – here and here– show a large party – like an Albanian wedding.
Kepi was very loyal to Marty Golden. Will Golden return the loyalty? This is something to ask because Nicole Malliotakis, Gerard Kassar and Fran are supporting the other guy, Michael Tannousis. Little is kwown about Tannousis, but Kassar worked with Marko in Golden’s office for many years.
Kepi’s website is here. Tannousis announced he was running in the Summer, but still hasn’t put up his website.

October 1, 2019Oh Look Who Got Married….
![]()
November 25, 2021 Update: Congratulations – a new baby boy – see here!
Frank and Rachel O’Brien wed this weekend. Their wedding made Page Six News because John Gotti Jr. and Curtis Sliwa both attended the wedding. (The article said Gotti Jr. was charged with the kidnapping and attempted murder of Sliwa back in the 1990’s.)
Let’s link this up to politics in Bay Ridge.
Rachel wrote for the Staten Island Advanced as Rachel Shapiro. During that time, she would print Nicole Malliotakis’ press releases (see here).
Morano is known for his talk radio show and his support for Malliotakis. In 2010, Morano left the Independence Party because the party would not give Nicole Malliotakis a Wilson-Pakula. Moreno was also the Staten Island Chairman of the Reform Party (like Bob Capano was in Brooklyn). Frank has been with Nicole a long time, but he probably doesn’t realize that she doesn’t do much in Bay Ridge.
Malliotakis attended their wedding celebration.
Many of you left comments linking Morano and O’Brien years ago, but I’m not involved in Staten Island politics, so I didn’t know if it was true.
Shapiro stopped working for The Staten Island Advance soon after this

October 1, 2019Mother Cabrini Procession 10/6 – She Built NYC And Deserves a Statue
On October 6, 2019 at 3:00 PM, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio and the Italian Apostolate of the Diocese of Brooklyn will have a procession and Mass this Sunday to support the construction of a public statue recognizing Mother Cabrini as part of the “She Built NYC” program. Mother Cabrini was denied a spot in the program – see here, here and here.
Ironically, Mother Cabrini received the most votes for a statue, but was denied a place in NYC history because of her religious symbolism. Councilman Justin Brannan supports Mother Cabrini getting a statue. See letter.
The procession begins at 3:00 PM in Mother Cabrini Park at 41 President Street in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. The procession will lead to Sacred Hearts – St. Stephen Church at 125 Summit Street for at Mass at 4 PM.
St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, the Patron Saint of Immigrants, arrived in New York in 1889 with the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart. Mother Cabrini Park is located at the former site of a church building where Mother Cabrini first ministered to the poor immigrants of the Italian community.
