October 16, 2019My Natural Pet Grand Opening 10/19

Buying high quality dog and cat food is an investment in your pet.
I have a 19 year old cat and I had a 19 year old dog up until last year. Growing up, we always had pets and my Mom bought then food from the grocery store and table scraps. My family’s dogs lived to 13 and 14 years old and people thought that was good. Now better food is available and I am convinced it helped my pets live longer.

October 16, 2019Sen. Gounardes Property Tax Meeting – Awful!
Senator Gounardes posted a video of the October 10th property tax meeting.
I listened to the video as I cleaned the house on Saturday morning. I actually stopped it several times and re-listened. It was pretty awful meeting and a waste of everyone’s time.
The most important thing said was at 1:15 – The pols announced: “We are waiting on the Mayor of the City of NY to propose property taxes.”
THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE MAYOR.
THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE MAYOR.
THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE MAYOR.
THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE MAYOR.
Gounardes had the nerve to act like he cared and then threw that news at the audience. This is how the meeting was announced:

Why would Gounardes announce the meeting by telling people to come speak up, when he and his friend ARE WAITING ON MAYOR de Blasio? #PlayingPolitics
The only other thing noting was that the crowd started to get rowdy at the end. Gounardes ended the meeting like Dan Donovan.
A better representative would have announced:
a) He was working with the Governor to freeze our property tax. (Not Happening)
b) He met with the mayor and they were dealing with our tax this month (Also not happening)
c) Gounardes is an attorney, he could have offered to sue the city – but he didn’t because then Mayor de Blasio and his friend, Brad Lander won’t get the low property taxes.
This meeting was just Andrew’s way of checking off the box that he did something. That’s called #PlayingPolitics
Sadly, all Gounardes meeting confirmed was that MARTY GOLDEN WAS RIGHT – IT WAS MAYOR de BlASIO WHO DIDN’T DO HIS JOB ON THE PROPERTY TAX. Honestly, I didn’t want to write that Golden was right, but I’m not going to lie when we all need the truth.
A few weeks ago, Deputy Mayor Vicki Been said that property taxes won’t be adjusted during Mayor de Blasio’s time. (See here) The next day she was forced to recant that statement (the woman has to pay her bills).
Corey Johnson, the NYC Speaker knows that the Property Tax Commission he created 17 months ago with Mayor de Blasio is a flop and hasn’t done anything to correct it. Recently, a webpage was added to the NYC site about those on the Property Tax Commission….it’s an interesting group. Whoever chose them had no intention of changing the property tax. See here
If I had known Andrew Gounardes thought “waiting for the Mayor” was acceptable, I never would have voted for him.

October 15, 2019Brad Lander Let’s Talk About Your Property Tax Discount
![]()
Tonight, Brad Lander was invited by Andrew Gounardes to speak about his dead bill from June 2018.
Lander and Gounardes are going to tell us how safe Brooklyn streets are because of them. Let’s be real fellas….if you can’t pass a bill in a year and a half, you are in the wrong line of work. Parents have been calling on Gounardes to make their area safer – even as late as Friday this week, parents have asked Gounardes for help! Gounardes had red light cameras installed and did a presser in Dyker Heights, but that didn’t make the streets any safer.
![]()
Why didn’t Senator Gounardes invite Brad Lander to bring his property tax bill to Bay Ridge? Let Brad Lander teach all of us how to get the Lander and de Blasio Discount!
Maybe Lander can explain why he and his neighbors in Park Slope deserve a property tax discount over other parts of Brooklyn? Both de Blasio, Lander and their neighbors have benefited from the low property taxes for years. Do they think they deserve a break while other Brooklyn pay double and receive less services? In Bay Ridge, there is one slow train, the R. Park Slope has a working transit line with many fast train lines.

Lander wants to pretend that he is a proponent of affordable housing, yet he is silent about the inequitable property taxes. A Park Slope landlord can easily pay the property tax with one months rent. A Bay Ridge landlord has lower rents and would need several months rent to pay their property taxes. Property taxes play a part in affordable housing.
In 2016, Lander complained about AirBnB, while NYC Council continued to fund the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, which supported and promoted AirBnB. Ironically, it was in Brooklyn that Air BnB found it’s support with Eric Adams and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. Apartments became a commodity because it was so easy and profitable just to rent them like hotel rooms. I sent Lander a tweet in August 2016 – no response because it’s easy for a man to be silent, rather than do something.

‘Look the other way Lander’ has remained silent about the known issues with at the new Brooklyn shelters in his area. Why isn’t he speaking up about the people’s complaints right down to the developers being used for the project? (Isn’t it ironic that a developer is an issue?)
Lander and Melissa Mark-Vivierto are the head of the Progressive Caucus in NYC. Melissa Mark-Vivierto also refused to do anything about the unequal tax rates.
Corruption happens in NYC because of those with the position and ability to make changes sit by, while it happens. Last month, Lander violated ethics rules – see here. When I read those words to people tonight, they were shocked and wanted to know what happened to Brad Lander?
Now Lander wants to run for NYC Comptroller. The position should be going to someone who has a background in account and has the ability to call out corruption. Why does Lander think he fits this position?

October 15, 2019Shore Road Bike Path Between Four Politicians
A Brooklyn resident named, Vincent shared another video of the Shore Road Bike Path. This time, he started from the 68th Street Pier. This side has been taken care of by Councilman Justin Brannan.
You can really see the difference between how the bike path is being cared for by the politicians.
Vincent posted the video from the other side of the bike path a few weeks ago. That side belongs to Councilman Mark Treyer. Treyger lives in Seagate, so he isn’t in touch with the neighborhood as much. It really looks bad and it’s dangerous for those running here. (A few races stopped using the bike path because of the disrepair on this side),
Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis and State Senator Diane Savino are in charge of the entire bike path so they are also to blame for it looking this way. The bike path has been bad for awhile, so these pols need to work on the areas they represent
How many politicians d0es it take to manage a bike path? Well here we have one working Council member (Brannan) and three pols not working. Probably if we had another politician who cared about the area, the bike path wouldn’t be in disarray.

Brian Benjamin held the property tax meeting this week with Andrew Gounardes. Benjamin has legislation to help his community – it’s for renters though.
Andrew Gounardes has nothing for Bay Ridge though.
Gounardes is bringing Brad Lander to talk about his dead street safety bill tonight. Lander has been benefiting from the low tax property taxes for years!
