Sour Grapes Gounardes Scoffs at Mansion on 77th Street in Bay Ridge

Eight months after this was written, some goon-ards came for this post. You are low and lonely goons to do that on Holy Saturday (the day before Easter).

Some people live in mansions – be happy for them!

They worked hard for their home and deserve it!

And they have to work hard to pay the property taxes – in this situation, the property taxes are $34,000 a year!

And they work hard to clean it (or pay someone to clean it).

The New York Times highlighted a $25,000,000 home that is for sale on 77th Street in Bay Ridge. It was owned by a dentist. See here:

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/29/realestate/marble-gold-house-sale-brooklyn.html

It has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. It’s a great house for someone who has a large family. See inside the home – property listing:

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/220-77th-St-Brooklyn-NY-11209/30696332_zpid

The home was built on land formerly owned by Jimmy Destri, the keyboardist from the band, Blondie. Destri sold the 77th Street property in 2010 for 1.3 million. Source:

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/29/realestate/marble-gold-house-sale-brooklyn.html

State Senator Andrew Gounardes had no achievements to write on social media, so he called the mansion a monstrosity to rally the socialists online.

See Senator Gounardes’ tweet:

Senator Gounardes complained that due to zoning, a “small” five story building can’t be built there.

Andrew Gounardes should never mention zoning around Bay Ridge. When there was a meeting about the City of Yes in Bay Ridge, Gounardes was silent at the meeting. Andrew Gounardes was silent as Justin Brannan voted for the City of Yes, but carved his home out of the City of Yes. Andrew Gounardes’ home was not carved out of the City of Yes, so and his wife can put an accessory apartment in the driveway and help their neighbors.

Info about the carveout is here:

Watch The Coney Community Advisory Meeting on Wednesday, July 30th at 1:00 pm

On Wednesday, July 30th at 1:00 pm. the first meeting of The Coney Community Advisory Committee will be held. Nothing big is going to happen tomorrow.

The following meeting will allow everyone to participate and speak up for Coney Island.

None of us would be spending our Summer talking about this if Justin Brannan was a better man.

Justin Brannan’s vote to demap Coney Island for the casino was the lowest point of his career. Why? Because other Councilmembers followed Brannan (that’s how they vote so no one votes against them when something comes up in their district). We should have heard Councilman Brannan vote: “HELL NO,” but he isn’t the leader Brooklyn needs.

I Want a T.J. Maxx in Bay Ridge. We Get Another Cannabis Dispensary – Flynnstoned in Bay Ridge.

Flynnstoned Cannabis Company hung their sign at 8119 – 5th Avenue. This company presented at Community Board 10 in the Winter.

I’m not interested in cannabis.

I am interested in shopping IN PERSON on 86th Street. I miss T.J. Maxx. Why do we keep getting cannabis shops when we need a store where we can touch and pick out socks or other “good junk” for our homes. I miss standing on line at TJ Maxx and looking at all their “good junk” on the way to thThere has to be more Rigites who are interested in TJ Maxx and have no interest in cannabis shops.

Call in Quality of Life Issues to 311 – There is a New Q Team at the 68th Precinct

OKAY THIS SOUNDS GOOD –>

Starting today, Brooklyn’s new Q-Team – the NYPD Quality of Life Team will be working in every precinct to tackle the issues that disrupt our daily life.

Dedicated officers will respond to:

• Abandoned vehicles

• Illegal vending

• Sidewalk ATVs & mopeds

• Noise complaints

• Open-air drug use

• Encampments and more

You can’t call in someone smoking pot, unless they are smoking it in a park or in a car – even a parked car. See:

Call 311 to report quality of life issues in our neighborhoods so the new Q-Team can handle it!

This is an initiative from NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch. Info:

Coney Island Residents Sound Off Against the Casino…Justin Brannan Can’t Hear Them

Instead of relaxing and enjoying the Summer, Coney Island residents are fighting for their community. They have spent months spreading the word about the casino.

This month, Justin Brannan voted to demap the area for the casino. Other politicians in NYC Council followed Brannan’s vote with the same vote (because that’s what NYC Council does), but almost 70% of Brooklyn Council Member either abstained or voted No.

Midtown Shooting – RIP Didarul Islam- NYPD Officer Killed

Around 6:30 pm tonight, a 27-year-old man from Las Vegas was an ‘active shooter’ inside 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. He walked in and immediately opened fire with a M4 rifle. He then went on the elevator to the 33rd floor, shot some people and then killed himself.

Tonight, the NYPD Police Commissioner said that the Las Vegas police said the shooter had a history of mental health issues.

On Tuesday morning, the news shared that the shooter was a high school football player. The shooter wrote that he had CTE and wanted his brain scanned. CTE, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy is a disease that many football players get. It can only be detected in the brain after someone is deceased.

The shooter had a note in his pocket about the NFL, a company that has an office at 345 Park Avenue. The shooter went to the wrong floor in the building because the elevator he used did not go to the floor where the NFL was located.

Didarul Islam, a 36-year-old police officer and four other people were killed (three men and a woman).

These beautiful people were killed for no reason – four distraught families left to mourn for the rest of their lives.

Officer Didarul Islam was wearing his uniform while moonlighting as a security guard at 345 Park Avenue.

Several other people were injured by the shooter. One is in critical condition in the hospital. It was a terrible evening in Manhattan.

RIP Didarul Islam.

He leaves behind a wife and two sons. His wife is pregnant with their third child. When his father heard the news, he had a stroke and was taken to the hospital. His wife was also taken to the hospital. Source:

Prayers for Didarul’s family.

Sen. Gounardes is Pushing Housing on The Brooklyn Marine Terminal – He Can’t Hear Redhook

From April to July, the vote for the Brooklyn Marine Terminal Project has been delayed five times.

Senator Andrew Gounardes and Congressman Dan Goldman know they don’t have the votes, so the vote keeps getting delayed.

The people in Redhook understand that their port makes their community special. They have asked for maritime and industrial upgrades.

Andrew Gounardes keeps pushing housing. See here:

https://www.facebook.com/SenGounardes/posts/pfbid022rX9y14KHSbWmyfpAL5FZaWwUBmS15nmR3derekwBtASBM3773nTuqrfR98CKzFAl

The maritime aspect is not being mentioned in Gounardes’ social media posts. This is not a traditional cement area in Brooklyn – it’s an area that has a lot more for the community.

When will Andrew Gounardes’ plans include the people’s concerns?

We don’t think Senator Gounardes is advocating for the community because he accepted donations from a member of the EDC. He and Dan Goldman should have disclosed the donations to the Taskforce last Fall.
