Quaglione Thinks Two-Year-Old Petition is Good

Video here

Petitions do nothing.

They never have. We have seen this low level of politics for years.

John Quaglione is circulating a two year old petition. Then he called the press to tell them about the old petition. <SIGH>.   Story here.   Weeks ago when the slasher was on Shore Road, this story might have been more relevant, but the 68th Precinct have added officers to the street.  Our community doesn’t need neighborhood policing, so those officers should be added to our street patrol.

We have seen Republicans play the 3rd grade petition game for too long. These moves are outdated, ineffective and hold back the Republican Party. It’s okay to say it, so they get out of the way and other people come forward.

Louis Barbati’s Killer is Convicted 3 Years Later

Louis Barbari was a co-owner of Spumoni Gardens (in photo above).

In the Summer of 2016, Barbari was killed 0n the corner of 12th Avenue and 76th Street. (See here and here

Initially, the police believed there was rivalry between Barbari and his killer, but they investigated and found out that Barbari was killed outside of his home while being robbed for $15,000. Andres Fernandez fled without the money.  Fernandez’s baby mama told the police on him. (See here)

“Andres Fernandez was found guilty in Brooklyn Supreme Court for second-degree murder and weapons possession for killing Barbati outside his Dyker Heights home on 12th Avenue  in June 2016.”  (See story here)

Barbari’s family is without him over $15K.   :(

There is no justice here – a hard-working man that everyone loved was killed.

Councilman Brannan Bought Another Bus. Why Are the Seniors Using the Train?

Councilman Brannan used our tax money to purchase a second bus for the seniors to take trips. Why aren’t they using it?  See the Accessibility Issue on the bottom of this flyer. This is a great trip, but using the train isn’t possible for some seniors.

We pay a lot of property taxes in Bay Ridge residents, so someone better be using those buses!

A concerned Bay Ridge resident named Debbie has stayed on top of this. She called and spoke with Mayor de Blasio recently while he was on a show. Mayor de Blasio said he wanted the seniors to go on their trips and put her in touch with someone from his office. That person should be doing their job and making sure this happens.

Both Bay Ridge Senior Center and Bay Ridge Connects are funded by the Dept of Aging.  So why is there even an issue about a bus for seniors? Some seniors have issues with mobility and won’t be able to sign up for the trip because they can’t use the subway easily. Update: Now some Bay Ridge Connects trips are using the bus (some are subway).

Maybe vouchers for Harbor Car Service or Uber need to be issued rather than relying on the Senior Center officials to get this done.

The issue with the bus for seniors to go on trips has been going on for too long – it shouldn’t be though.

Whose denying the seniors access to the new bus?  Let’s fix this now!

Just Because It is Free Doesn’t Mean It’s Good

Many years ago while Lee and I were dating, I planned a date to go to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden during the Winter.

We were madly in love, but the BBG is awful in the Winter!

I love plants and I thought they were going to have a lot of Winter bushes and bulbs that they forced to flower.  It was near Christmas, so I thought it would be beautiful.

Everything was dead.  Just avoid the BBG in the Winter.

Bath Beach Residents Don’t Like This Bike Lane

Whoever thought that putting a painted bike lane on that strip hasn’t driven there.

Mark Treyger is the Councilman for that area. Why would he have allowed a two-way bike lane there?  That makes no sense. Does special interests have a hold on him like they do our politicians?

Residents called the television network (not the local papers) because they can’t get help with this problem area.

Don Mario Moved in with Mi Tierra

Nos mudamos = We moved

The address 7204 3rd Avenue belongs to the Columbian Restaurant, Mi Tierra.

At first we thought Don Mario and Mi Tierra were switching places, but then we spoke with them.  They said Don Mario’s is now with Mi Tierra. The two owners are related.

In April 2018, Don Mario’s moved to that spot. They started out as a tiny storefront at 7215 -where Iraqi House is now, but so many people were buying their rotisserie chicken, they needed a larger spot.

Another empty storefront on the corner of 73rd Street and 3rd Avenue (7302 3rd Ave).
