December 14, 2019The Zion Church in Bay Ridge was Evicted
![]()
Wow The Zion Church in Bay Ridge just announced they were evicted.
The church met at IS 30 for three years and were evicted last week….how’s that even possible? I didn’t think public schools would be able to rent space to religious groups.
Don’t judge….wherever people find Jesus is good. Religion changes people’s lives. Currently, they are meeting in people’s homes – see here
Do they have a GoFundMe here to help them find a new place to worship. Maybe another Christian Church can temporarily offer them some space in this holiday season.

December 14, 2019One of the Best Events Before Christmas – 12/15
The Historic New Utrecht Reformed Church on 18th Avenue and 84th Street will have their annual Live Nativity outside the church from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 15, 2019.
Many years ago I was going to the drugstore across the street and saw the nativity for the first time. It was magical. The simple and beautiful nativity is something I look forward to seeing each year.

December 13, 2019Santorini Restaurant & Cafe Opened Today
Santorini Restaurant and Cafe opened at 8101 – 5th Avenue today! 347-492-0603
They had two energetic bears outside dancing and greeting everyone! Very nice!
Santorini hung their sign at the end of August and they are finally opening!
The place has a Turkish menu with feteer pies are and authentic stuffed vegetables (mahshy).
Many people (including me) thought it was going to be a Greek menu as Santorini is a beautiful park of Greece.
See pictures of their food here

December 12, 2019Bay Ridge Dems Endorsed a Socialist
Wow! I am shocked to see the Bay Ridge Democrats endorsed Bernie Sanders, a Socialist. Kadia Goba broke the story here and then they tweeted what’s above. Goba doesn’t live in NY anymore, but knows more about politics here than other reporters!
It’s very disappointing. What happened to the Bay Ridge Dems? It appears El-Yateem’s supporters must have infiltrated the Bay Ridge Democrats. See Facebook comments.
Bernie doesn’t have a shot and wouldn’t be able to win against Trump. #SMH (SMH = Shaking my head folks)
Bay Ridge – you need to know that this is Justin Brannan and Andrew Gounardes’ club. It’s also District Leader, Ralph Perfetto’s Club.

December 12, 2019Brannan and de Blasio Dine at Tanoreen 12/12
Councilman Brannan and Mayor de Blasio were seen coming out of Tanoreen Restaurant this evening. See tweet and comments here
![]()
Tanoreen is a Mediterranean-Middle Eastern cuisine restaurant at 7523 3rd Avenue.
This afternoon, Brannan tweeted about another restaurant. See here
At least Brannan has good taste in restaurants. Too bad he considers the Mayor his friend and the mayor won’t do a thing about the uneven property taxes that many in Brannan’s district are forced to pay.
Strangely, this Bay Ridge pol loves taking and posting pics with every person or item he meets. Yet, there was none with the mayor. #Secret It reminds me when Marty Golden met the mayor for breakfast years ago!

December 12, 2019Who Did Sen. Gournardes Write This Report For?
![]()
Senator Andrew Gounardes released a report about the broken MTA. There’s no new information and no solutions. Who in Bay Ridge or Marine Park wanted this report?
Did Andrew Gounardes do these transit surveys so he could have his staffer take his pictures and send it to the paper? Would this fool people into believe he did something? I hope not!
Did the cyclists who Gounardes overrode our Community Board want to hear about the broken train system so they could push for more rights on the road? See here
Or is this to help the owners of the ferry get money from the state? The report is obviously for someone because Bay Ridge residents aren’t asking for this. Story here
I just don’t get it. There are thousands of residents in Senator Gounardes area who are overpaying on their property taxes. Why isn’t there a report stating how many residents are being overcharged? Why wouldn’t Gounardes want to know how much property tax his district is paying in comparison to Bill de Blasio’s district. (Gournardes’ friend, Brad Lander also benefits from the low property taxes).
Andrew Gounardes isn’t willing to do the work to meet with de Blasio and get an answer about when there will be property tax reform in the city. Justin Brannan can’t ask Corey Johnson to follow through on the Property Tax Commission, but Andrew Gounardes certainly can. He’s just too lazy to do it.
