Bay Ridge Stand Against Nazi Hate Speech 1/5
Why are people standing on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge holding hands on Sunday, January 5th? What are people in Bay Ridge protesting on Third Avenue on 1/5/20?

This week, the poster below was found in Bay Ridge. In our community, the Nazi support has only been from cowards who are placing stickers on our corner poles. People in Bay Ridge have been doing that for years – remove their nonsense and ignore them.
Although it’s one poster in Bay Ridge, supporters of the group, Patriot Front, bragged about it here (click on the bottom center picture to see Bklyn locations). They love that they got attention in Brooklyn.
On Sunday, January 5th from 2:00 – 3:30 pm, Bay Ridge residents will be letting nazis know that Bay Ridge is no place for hate. Residents are meeting at 2:00 pm at 86th Street and 3rd Avenue to form a human chain against hate speech.

January 3, 2020Aleli Mexican Restaurant Opened on 3rd Avenue
In October, Aleli Mexican Restaurant hung a sign in the window announcing that it would be opening at 7804 – 3rd Avenue. Now they are open!
Their menu – click here to see it larger. People I know who went here LOVED IT. People who love Mexican food will love this restaurant.
They applied for a liquor license, so they will have alcohol soon (I’ll update this if/when I hear they have it)
Remember the old law office?
Even though the letters have been removed, you can still see the words Law Offices. They power washed the front and and you can’t see the words any longer.
Good luck to the owners of Aleli Mexican Restaurant. It’s good to see more places 0pening!

January 3, 2020Nude Suspect Caught by the Police
Sometimes the Citizen App is good. Apparently, there was a nude guy running around but no one has any pictures or video.
The 68th Precinct police officers pursued a male suspect that removed his boots and sweatshirt, as he tried to outrun the NYPD and get away……but he was caught. And somehow nude?
You can see videos of the police here tracking the suspect in the backyards. But I didn’t see the suspect at all in the videos….and no one was nude.
Remember the last time there was a nude person on the Avenue? So many people were photographing the nude person.

January 3, 2020NY Assembly Leader Arrested DWI
The NY Assembly Minority Leader, Brian Kolb stepped down from his office today after being arrested for a DWI. Story here and here
In 2018, Kolb through his hat in the election for governor, but ended the election run. See here
Kolb sometimes published articles in our local paper and was a big supporter of Nicole Malliotakis.

January 2, 2020South Brooklyn Islamic Center – New Mosque
South Brooklyn Islamic Center (SBIC) opened at 7610 – 3rd Avenue (next to Omonia). Google it and you will see the picture above.
RealtyNerd’s red storefront disappeared.
On the window, it says “Thank You Bay Ridge, we have gone virtual.”
Now there is a painted white storefront, some garbage bags and spray paint.
The initials SBIC at on the window sign which stands for South Brooklyn Islamic Center.
Residents said they saw men sitting on the floor. It appears to be a new mosque.

January 2, 2020Four People Were Shot in Sunset Park
Right before 8:00 pm tonight, three men were shot in Sunset Park. Story here
Update: Channel 1 News shared that a woman passing by the area was also shot in the leg……so four were shot. All were taken to the hospital.
The address given is 271-62nd Street off 3rd Avenue.

The comments say that the police are searching for two suspect AND Police are conducting a citywide hospital canvass to determine if anyone else was shot.

NYC Parking Meters are not accepting credit cards. There is a software issue involving the year turning to 2020, so the machines need to be upgraded. See story here

Time: 4:00 – 5:00 PM, Sundays at John Jay High School, 237 7th Avenue, Brooklyn.
