Dead Man’s Body Found in The Water in Bay Ridge
Very sad news. This morning a person called 911 to report a deceased man’s body in the water near 92nd Street and Shore Road in Bay Ridge.
The police and Medical Examiner’s office responded to the call. Below there’s a body bag between the police car and the fence. RIP.

On Friday, June 26th, the man above forced his way into a home on 53rd Street and 8th Avenue in Sunset Park. He stole $10,000 in cash.

Avoid Swimming in Coney Island – Brighton Beach
Warnings were placed on the Boardwalk because there is a high level of bacteria in the water. The torrential rain in Coney Island caused the high bacteria levels. Info: https://shorturl.at/GvwK6

Last week, Rasim Hot, owner of YOURS Car Service here on 3rd Avenue and 72nd Street was taken by ICE.

Robert Smith Was Charged For the Mass Shooting in Coney Island on July 4th
The police arrested 44-year-old Robert Smith for shooting eight people, including four children on July 4th, in Coney Island.
Smith was charged with multiple counts of attempted murder.
There hasn’t been a lot of information about Smith’ s background in the news, but Brooklynites want to know if this is a repeat offender or if this was gang-related.

What Is Bay Ridge’s Plan For the 25th Anniversary of 9/11?
Some Bay Ridge residents are talking about this year being then 25th Anniversary of 9/11.
Residents are hoping that our community will hang 9/11 Remembrance flags on 3rd Avenue, 5th Avenue, Fort Hamilton Parkway, and 13 Avenue this September.
It’s a great idea! Everyone says, “We won’t forget,” but it’s 25 years later and we should be doing something.
The City Council representatives, Assemblymen and State Senators for the area were all tagged on the post. Who will take action for Bay Ridge?
What’s strange is our community doesn’t have a mural for Moira Smith, the hero from Bay Ridge, who ran back towards the Towers on September 11th to save people. Moira lost her life when the South Tower collapsed. More info:

No Flag on Kayla Santosuosso’s Office Still
After being in office for six months, Bay Ridge’s NYC Council Representative, Kayla Santosuosso still has not hung a flag on 3rd Avenue.
Former Councilman Justin Brannan displayed an American flag on Third Avenue.
One of the first things a new homeowner or business owner does after moving in is to hang an American flag. Many Bay Ridge residents noticed that the flag was missing.

OLMC Feast Starts Today – Giglio on Sunday
Tonight is opening night for the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel/Giglio Feast at 211 Havemeyer Street in Brooklyn.
This Sunday July 12th is Giglio Sunday where many Italian men will lift the Giglio at 1:30 pm. If you can’t make it Sunday, they do it again on Wednesday July 15th, the Night Lift of the Giglio.
