Avoid Swimming in Coney Island – Brighton Beach

Bacteria levels measured 227 enterococci per 100 mL of water after a heavy rainstorm. Safe levels of bacteria are up to 104 MPN/100ml (so this was more than double the unsafe level).
People were swimming in the water because they didn’t see the small signs on the Boardwalk.
