Police say an unidentified male dressed in all black and wearing a ski mask walked up to the fence line along Surf Avenue around 10:37 p.m., where the family was celebrating, and fired multiple rounds into the courtyard.” Source: https://shorturl.at/3zZDv

Mini Brownout in Bay Ridge – Short Power Outage

The power went out for a minute at 3:14 pm, but then came back on. It blinked off a few more times. Unfortunately, some Bay Ridge residents and businesses weren’t as lucky.

ConEd reduced the voltage in our area now, so large appliances may not work as well as usual. If your air conditioner doesn’t feel as cold, that’s the reason why.

Dyker Heights and Bath Beach residents are sharing that the same thing has happened in their area.

Some people lost cable/Internet for a few minutes through Spectrum as well.

Sadly, that small brownout cost some businesses their electrical devices. : (

One Small Flag Added to The Verrazzano Bridge

Update: Putting up this small flag was a whole day of work for MANY people. Look: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1D2mEkPkbh

When Brooklynites heard that an American flag was being added to the Verrazzano Bridge for Americas 250th birthday, we were excited!

One small flag was added to the bridge. I don’t mean o sound ungrateful, but it’s America’s 250th birthday! Put ten of these flags on the bridge.

Photo: Tom Hilton

Update: The flag looks better to those who are driving on the bridge:

Skinflints Restaurant at 7902 – 5th Avenue has a bigger flag than the bridge. Go to Skinflints!

Photo: John L.

We envisioned a flag like this because many of people remember they did this in 1976:

New 68th Precinct Commander Sent Email to Lexus and Honda Vehicle Owners in Bay Ridge

Captain Christopher Vincenti became the Commanding Officer of the 68th Precinct. He sent this email today:

Dear  Residents,

I would like to make our community aware of a recent increase in the theft of Lexus and Honda vehicles. While the 68 Precinct is actively investigating these incidents and deploying resources to identify and apprehend those responsible, I encourage all vehicle owners to take additional precautions to reduce their risk of becoming a victim.

If you own a Lexus or any Honda vehicle, please consider the following safety measures:

Ensure your manufacturer’s mobile app is installed, updated, and that you know your username, password, and security credentials so you can quickly access available vehicle tracking and connected services if necessary.

Familiarize yourself with your vehicle’s tracking and location features.

Consider installing an independent GPS tracking device to provide an additional layer of security.

Use a highly visible steering wheel lock, such as The Club®, to deter thieves.

Whenever possible, park your vehicle in a garage. If parking in a driveway, consider positioning another vehicle behind it to make it more difficult to remove.

Always lock your vehicle, close all windows, remove valuables from plain view, and never leave key fobs inside the vehicle.

Vehicle thefts are often crimes of opportunity. These simple preventive measures can make your vehicle a less attractive target and significantly reduce the likelihood of theft. The members of the 68 Precinct remain committed to protecting our community through targeted enforcement, investigative efforts, and crime prevention initiatives. We also ask residents to remain vigilant. If you observe suspicious activity involving parked vehicles or individuals attempting to gain unauthorized access to a vehicle, please call 911 immediately. Timely reporting allows responding officers the best opportunity to apprehend those responsible. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping keep our community safe.

Respectfully,

COMMANDING OFFICER Captain Christopher Vincenti

New York City Police Department

68 Precinct

333 65th Street

Brooklyn New York 11220
