H&L Bagels Was Closed Today

H&L Bagels on 3rd Avenue between 88th and 89th Streets is a lot of people’s favorite bagel shop in Bay Ridge because they serve great bagels and coffee.
When the shop had a ‘Closed Today’ sign on up, Ridgites were unhappy. Someone shared that the air conditioning was not working. Hopefully, H&L will be open tomorrow.

May 20, 2026Fines Delayed Until September 8th for Not Using a NYC Garbage Bin in NYC

In June, NYC property owners of 1 to 9 family homes were supposed to have purchased a NYC garbage bin. The recycling bins were optional pictured below in blue and green are optional. Some people like having the set of matching bins.

Those who didn’t use a garbage bin by June 1st were supposed to be ticketed.
One million bins have been purchased, but some people haven’t been able to get them because Home Depot has gone out of stock several times. As a result, NYC is delaying ticketing until September 8, 2026 (warnings, but no fines will be issued). Info here:

When Home Depot, the store was out of the bins, people were able to get bins delivered to their homes the same day through Instacart.

When Bay Ridge residents are driving around looking for parking, they must get mad when they see a boulder sitting on their corner taking the spot because some urban planner thought this form of daylighting needed. Info:

I’m surprised groups of people haven’t gotten together to move the boulders yet.
