Fines Delayed Until September 8th for Not Using a NYC Garbage Bin in NYC
In June, NYC property owners of 1 to 9 family homes were supposed to have purchased a NYC garbage bin. The recycling bins were optional (some people like having the set of matching bins).
Those who didn’t use a garbage bin by June 1st were supposed to be ticketed.
Many people have been purchasing the bins and Home Depot has gone out of stock. As a result, NYC is delaying ticketing until September 8, 2026. Info here:

When Home Depot, the store was out of the bins, people were able to get bins delivered to their homes the same day through Instacart.
