Men Hurt By Fireworks at Ben Vitale Ballfield
This morning there was a loud explosion at Ben Vitale Ballfield (see gold circle on the map below for this ballfield). The explosion shook the ground of the area around the ballfield. People in the neighborhood thought the explosion came from the Fort Hamilton Army Base.
A guy lit a firework that he found on Bay 8th Street. The fireworks exploded in his hand. This guy was seriously hurt and three other men were hurt as well.
Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny shared the four men are between 18 and 20-years-old and all four were treated at the hospital.
Outside the ballfield were many ambulances, police cars and firetrucks. Parents at the adjacent baseball field shared about this.
