Two Brooklyn Neighborhoods Become Friends As Terrible Politicians Try to Silence Communities

While Coney Island and Red Hook are geographically not near each other, the residents from the two communities have met and compared notes.

Both communities have been put in positions to fight for their community because they have terrible politicians representing them!

You can see the casino’s donation on line 3 and Andrew Gounardes’ $5000 donation on line 4:

Coney Island wrote this to the Red Hook:

Andrew Gounardes should not be on the Brooklyn Marine Terminal Project. Gounardes should have recused himself because he accepted a lot of donations from a member of the EDC.

Red Hook did a shoutout to Coney Island residents. Councilman Justin Brannan voted to demap the street in Coney Island for the casino. Why didn’t Brannan yell, “Hell no!” to the casino? #Lobbyists

Almost 70% of Brooklyn NYC Council members voted against this measure or chose not to vote. If Brannan had voted against demapping, many other Councilmembers would have as well.

These terrible politicians failed to do their jobs and the people in Coney Island and Red Hook have been fighting for their communities since the Winter. Two votes will happen this Summer, Gounardes and Brannan should have never put these communities in this position!

Hugs,
marlene
