The Elevator on 95th Street Was a Year Late – Brannan Said They Were Early. Weird.

Today, the politicians went to the 95th Street station to take photos with the new elevator that opened last week. Brannan wrote this:

Strangely, Councilman Justin Brannan thinks the project was done early – no it’s a year late. The Brooklyn Paper wrote in 2023 that the project was expected to be completed in June 2024. See here:

Brannan tagged both of Andrew Gounardes’ accounts, but Gounardes doesn’t correct Brannan. If the project went over a year, then the cost must have exceeded the original budget as well.

Strangely, Senator Gounardes’ took credit for the elevator! The Brooklyn Paper says that Brannan had been requesting the elevator since 2018 – Gounardes wasn’t in office until 2019.

On Instagram, Gounardes acted as if he was responsible for the 86th Street elevator.

The 86th Street elevator was done by Golden or Gentile, as it was complete in July 2020. In 2020, I wrote about it because it was strange that Andrew Gounardes went to take pictures with a project he wasn’t involved in.

The MTA must have set a new completion date for the 95th Street elevator because this graphic from the MTA says it was going to be completed by the first quarter in 2025 (so that would be by March 25, 2025).

Hugs,
marlene
