A noise violation camera was added to 3rd Avenue and Wakeman Place in Bay Ridge. These cameras are $35,000 each and five are supposed to be installed in each borough by 2025. (Source)

This might be the camera that was used to be near Fort Hamilton High School.

NYC Council passed this legislation for the cameras – Justin Brannan was not a sponsor of the bill. Cars with modified mufflers or loud dirt bikes, that make loud sounds over 85 decibels, will receive an $800 ticket by mail to the registered owner. (Source)

If the have an altered muffler, they probably have a license plate that can’t be read by the cameras as well. CBS News shared that $100 million dollars is lost in NYC because of obscured license plates. (See here)

Senator Andrew Gounardes’ legislation never got out of Committee because he was too busy pushing Congestion Pricing. (Bill)

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection said that almost 50,000 noise complaints are filed every year. (Source)
