CB 18 Voted Unanimously Against The City of Yes

Community Board 18 held their ‘City of Yes Vote’ tonight! CB 18 represents the neighborhoods of Bergen Beach, Canarsie, Flatlands, Georgetown, Marine Park, Mill Basin, Mill Island and Paerdegat Basin.
A friend shared a link to their meeting. They were a spirited group of Brooklynites and fun to watch! (Frank Seddio is a member of this board.)
Community Board 18 unanimously voted against the City of Yes!
Things they spoke about that Community Board 10 and our politicians have not said:
1) The City of Yes is about deregulating housing.
2) If residential property is turned into commercial property, then the property taxes for that property will be even higher. Remember, in other parts of Brooklyn, the property taxes are considerably lower.
3) Community Board 18 mentioned the large turnout in Bay Ridge! They spoke about communities not wanting The City of Yes. Then they spoke about who was pushing this project.
One speaker said that the head of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce worked on the City of Yes Plan. Then I looked it up and Randy is pushing for it:

This is very strange as The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has not been helpful to businesses in Bay Ridge! There are empty stores all over our neighborhood, why hasn’t the Chamber of Commerce helped small business owners secure these storefronts?
The presidents of all of NYC’s Chambers of Commerce thought it was appropriate for all of them to go to Somos in 2022. NYC should do away with this position!

4) Community Board 18 talked about the importance of voting down each measure.
A lot has happened to NYC in the last three years. The Mayor, politicians like Andrew Gounardes who are pushing the City of Yes don’t realize that NY’ers have had enough. What good things are happening here for middle class NY’ers who are being overtaxed?
