86th Street in Bay Ridge is a Mess, Yet Justin Brannan’s Flyer Claims He Revitalized It

When I moved here fourteen years ago, I shopped on 86th Street all the time.
Now I hardly go to 86th Street to shop. Not only are many stores closed, but the street is run down.
Empty storefronts have graffiti or are just dirty. Bay Ridge is just not being maintained – not just this street, but the whole as a whole.
Many of the stores are now outlet versions of the original store.
Unlicensed merchants are selling items in front of Century’s. People complained to Councilman Brannan and as usual, he didn’t take action.

Justin Brannan stopped Trader Joe’s from coming to 86th Street at the Nathan’s location. (See article) Justin always leaves that out of the story! Brannan thought putting schools in Bay Ridge business districts was a good idea. This article explained how an unregistered lobbyist made money here.
Brannan put three schools in business districts. (See here, here and here)
In December 2020, Justin Brannan wrote the information below on Facebook. It’s three years later and there has been no change to the area!

Councilman Brannan hasn’t brought in any new stores to 86th Street, so are the developers of the property looking for Brannan to change the zoning for their planned Phase 2 “proposed residential building” on 87th Street near 4th Avenue.
There are no tall buildings on that block! (See here) Notice how Justin Brannan didn’t mention this building.

Community Board 10 will not stand up against Councilman Brannan because many of them were put on CB 10 by him.
If Ari Kagan is the Councilman, they will stand up because they aren’t his friend!
Hugs,
marlene
