Attempted Car Jacking on 78th Street in Bay Ridge Has Councilman Brannan Playing Politics

Early this morning, around 8:05 am, there was an attempted carjacking on 78th Street between Colonial and Narrows Avenue.
Watch the video – it’s bad. (SEE VIDEO HERE)
A black BMW SUV with NJ plates drove down 78th Street.
The SUV stopped and pulled backwards. The driver got out and walked over to where a white SUV was parked in the driveway. The white SUV was running. The man opened the door to the white SUV and realized the driver was inside. The driver leaped out of his white SUV and chased the car jacker. The (potential) car jacker ran to his car and drove away.
Our neighbor with the fast reflexes was sitting in his car with his two small children. They were waiting for the Mom to come out.
He saw the black SUV back up. Our neighbor was on alert and waiting. When the car jacker opened his car door, he jumped out and chased him. (His neighbors shared this information, so that everyone is aware of who is in our community and is cautious.) As our neighbor chased after the car jacker, someone from his home went down the stairs. (See Video Here)
The story was shared on Twitter and Facebook (with video). Neighbors shared what happened because they wanted the community to be aware of what is going on in the morning.

On Twitter, Councilman Justin Brannan responded to one man who shared the story and told him that it didn’t happen. Brannanites then insulted the guy because Brannan said he lied (when he didn’t)

Brannan insulted the man with this ridiculous statement:

Councilman Brannan responded a bit more acceptably on Facebook (this post was the neighbor sharing the video):

BUT COUNCILMAN BRANNAN DID NOT TAKE ACTION FOR BAY RIDGE.
This is another example of Justin Brannan not being able to lead in this community. I am glad that the Facebook community saw the Brannan did not take the situation seriously – it is time for a new leader.
Council Brannan left this message on Facebook and ranted about running cars without people in them – that was not the situation here! This was a parent waiting in their driveway to take their child to school.
The appropriate response would be for Councilman Brannan to get some police to patrol the area AND let the community know about the incident. The reason the black SUV is cruising these blocks is because they know that no one is around.
