Anti-Asian Speech in NYC Council, What Did Brooklyn Representatives Do?

Many people spoke out against the hateful speech used at a NYC Council meeting this week. (See video with divisive remarks)

When people act inappropriate, NYC Council representatives have a responsibility to speak out and stop the hate – not one person did. Allowing that language meant it was acceptable.

Iwen Chu, the new state senator for the Asian district wrote on Twitter that she was shocked. (See here) Iwen didn’t take any further actions to stop the hate. Electing a tweeting politician is useless.

Iwen thought posting a selfie in front of a children’s chorus was more important than taking action against this. (See here)

Councilman Justin Brannan didn’t say anything about the divisive speech allowed at a NYC Council meeting. He was too busy posting photos of himself on Twitter. (See here)

Several days have passed, Brannan should have asked the Speaker to remove this Councilwoman from the Committee. Brannan hasn’t been good about calling out hate for years now. (See here)

Andrew Gounardes and Mathylde Frontus were all silent on the topic. Mike Tannousis also silent, he was busy celebrating his birthday. (See here)
