68th Precinct’s Community Council Meeting

Captain Tolson at the 68th Precinct shared this:
a) Captain Tolson said that some new cars had the spare key in the glove box and the owners left it there.
**A resident said that the thieves are hanging out near the dealerships and following people home.
b) Robberies – Smoke Shops are being targeted. Captain Tolson said people should be buzzed into the stores because thieves are masked up and wearing hooded jackets trying to enter the store.
c) Captain Tolson said that he wants Bay Ridge residents to report cars that haven’t moved in a week to the 68th Precinct. Take a picture of the car and send it to your NCO’s email address.
d) Captain Tolson said he would rather people call and report something so they can take precautions. Call 911. If you hear a chainsaw, call 911 and report a catalytic converter being stolen.
e) Captain Tolson said when you go to the ATM, pull onto the card part – if it is shaky or comes off, don’t put your card in there. Cover your card and cover the buttons for your cards code.
f) Bulgeries were down 18% but now Bay Ridge businesses are being broken into (Eight Locations were hit – these five were named: Cebu, Campania, Positano, El Malecon, Beets & Carrots).
The thieves tried to get in BurgerFi, but they weren’t able to. The Captain thinks the thieves are monitoring the NYPDs radios.
g) Police officers can work at stores like Walgreens while they aren’t working. That may help.
