Brooklyn, Who Needs These New Pedestrian Bridges?

When I saw this project, I thought it was a joke. This project was planned for 92nd Street, but there wasn’t enough funding. Original plans: see here and here.
Community Board 11’s Meeting revealed there was not enough funding for this pedestrian overpass (thank goodness).

They slowed the speed limit down on the Belt to 40 going to exit 5. Why?
BUT THERE ARE TWO PEDESTRIAN OVERPASSES COMING – JUST NOT THE 92ND ONE.
CB 11 discussed these in their meeting.

The original design (above) has been changed to a flatter ADA-compliant design. (below)

No one wants the Belt Parkway closed for this project.

Hugs,
marlene

The six million dollars would be much better spent repaving the bike path. The southbound side of the bike path from the pier to 82nd street is full of huge potholes caused by the settling of the underlying rocks and sand. Bicyclists are constantly veering into oncoming bicycle traffic to avoid falliong into the potholes. Even the “repaired” potholes are subsiding.
The entire bike lane from 69th street to 100th street needs to have a new foundation and new pavement. This could easily use up the $6million that had requested for a bridge. What is the use of a new bridge, if it only leads up to a decrepit bike path? Fix the bikepath first!
