Thank You 68th Pct. Auxiliary Police, Explorers and Community!!
Across NYC yesterday, NYC police officers were painting their communities and getting rid of graffiti.

Thank you to the 68th Precinct Auxiliary Police Officers, the 68th Explorers (the teens they mentor) and the Youth Leadership Council for painting in Bay Ridge.

Because NYC Council and the NYPD don’t work together, many people didn’t know about this event. Even this political reporter is questioning the event:

In our area, the 68th Precinct Auxiliary Police have been doing this for awhile. (See here)
Last August, Sen. Gounardes took credit for their work and sent a story to the paper claiming it was his work, (See here) even though the man in the picture is clearly wearing his police officer uniform.
Sometimes people question if a mismatched square of paint is better – it definitely is. The presence of graffiti says that someone owns that area and the community doesn’t care.
Hugs,
marlene
