Yong Zheng – Hero in Sunset Park Robbery is Honored
Today, Sunset Park honored Yong Zheng for his heroic act. The community held a memorial for Zheng on the corner of 57th Street and 7th Avenue. (See videos here)
Last Friday night, there was a robbery on the corner of 57th Street and 7th Avenue. Yong Zheng was on 7th Avenue returning home after a Lunar New Year celebration. He saw the robbery happening and he and his friends jumped into help.
Yong Zheng’s first impulse was to help a stranger. The perp stabbed Zheng with a screwdriver. Zheng was brought to the hospital, but he did not survive.
Yong Zheng was a bus driver and the father of two children. A Go Fund Me has been set up to help Yong’s family. (See here)
